The 8 parts of speech

Noun, Verb, Pronoun, Adjective. Adverb, Preposition, conjunction, and Interjection.
Noun• Definition- A noun is a person, place, thing, or
an idea.
• Example sentence- There was cake at the birthday party
Pronoun
• Definition- A word that replaces a noun or other pronoun and is used as the subject of a sentence.
• Example sentence- I rode my bike with
Marco.
Verb
• Definition- A word that can express actions, events, or states of being.
• Example sentence- Marco was beat up got a black eye, and didn’t even defend himself.
Adjective
• Definition- A word that describes or modifies a noun or pronoun; it answers questions: which one? What kind? How many?
• Example sentence- Super man is very strong.
Adverb
• Definition- A word that modifies a verb, adjective, or another adverb.
• Example sentence- We quickly ran to the store to get some bread.
Preposition
• Definition-Connects nouns, and other phrases to other words in the sentence.
• Example sentence-After we got home we ate some of the bread .
Conjunction
• Definition- Connects words, phrases, and sentences in a sentence.
• Example sentence-I would like to have some but burgers aren’t good for you.
Interjection
• Definition-Is a word added to a sentence to convey emotion
• Example sentence-Wow! He’s a fast runner.
