Theidealcandidate• Holdsavalid,unrestrictedlicensetopracticemidwiferyinanothercountryorstate;• HascompletedthreecreditsofcollegelevelmathematicsandcollegelevelEnglish;and• Hasamidwiferyeducationbackgroundthatissubstantiallyequivalenttowhatis
requiredinFlorida.
TheLicensurebyEndorsementProgramrequiresapproximately4-12monthstocompleteandiscomprisedofdidacticandclinicallearningspecifictomidwiferypracticeinFlorida.ThecurriculumcoversFloridalawandrule,itsapplicationtoallfacetsofmidwiferycare,andtheprocessforestablishingandmaintaininglicensureinFlorida.
ThisprogramhasaclinicallearningcomponentrequiringstudentstocompletethefollowingclinicalexperienceswithaFlorida-approvedpreceptor:
• 10prenatalexams,and• 10birthsinanout-of-hospitalsetting.
UponsuccessfulcompletionoftheLicensurebyEndorsementProgram,studentswillbeeligibletositfortheNARM,whichistheexaminationusedforFloridalicensure,andtoobtainlicensureasaFloridaLicensedMidwife.
