FELLOWSHIP

Reconstructive Hand Surgery in Tetraplegia Dr. Ivan Justan was awarded the first FESSH fellowship in reconstructive tetraplegia hand surgery. Dr. Justan who is a citizen of the Czech Republic became a specialist in General Surgery 2003 and in Plastic and Hand Surgery 2007. In 2008, he completed his Ph.D. thesis. This 3-months fellowship took place at the Department of Hand Surgery, Institute of Clinical Sciences, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Göteborg, Sweden during the period March 1st through May 31st, 2009. The following items were specifically addressed:

1. History and relevant literature 2. Quality management system according to ISO-9001

standard 3. Diagnostics 4. International Classification of Hand Function (ICHF) 5. Surgical Training 6. Infrastructure of a tetraplegia hand surgery service 7. Rehabilitation programs 8. Follow-ups 9. Spinal Injuries Unit Setup 10. Research project 11. Examination
