Term 3 Week 10 Monday 23rd September 2019
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Our last week of Term Three is here. We have had a wonderful term of learning and fun. Thanks to our students, staff and all of the volunteers for making our school so great.
Congratulations to our Stage 3 students for their terrific participation in the Netball Gala last Friday. Thanks to Mrs Skinner, Mrs Pring and Mrs Rodgers for organising this activity for the kids.
Thanks once again to the volunteers who came along to the garden working bee on the weekend. Everything looks neat and ready for visitors to come along for the Open Gardens and Art Trail (see brochure below).
Our end of term Disco will be held this Thursday evening in our hall. K-2 students will be discoing from 5.30pm - 6.15pm and the Years 3-6 students will be from 6.30pm - 7.30pm. All students are asked to bring their labelled water bottle with them on the night. Student executive will be selling Disco tickets in the morning and at lunch this week. A gold coin donation would be appreciated to assist with Year 6 Farewell fundraising. Glo products will be on sale at the door from 50c. K - 2 will receive a free 1/2 Quelch fruit stick. Years 3 - 6 can purchase lolly bags for 50c each.
Further to the note that was sent home last week, we have now had a number of cases of Chicken Pox reported to Coal Point Public School. Chicken Pox is very contagious. Symptoms include a slight fever, runny nose, and a rash that begins as raised pink spots that blister and scab. Students with Chicken Pox must not attend school for 5 days after the rash first appears and until the blisters have all scabbed over. If you are at all concerned please see your Doctor immediately.
Our 2019 Tell Them From Me Parent Survey is now open and will remain available until October 25th 2019. The Tell Them From Me survey is an important part of our school planning processes and assists our school to better serve our community needs. The link for the survey is : http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/cpps2019 It would be greatly appreciated if you would log in and complete the survey at your earliest convenience. This can be done on any device.
Our School Run 4 Fun Colour Explosion will be held on Saturday 9th November in our school grounds. Information and sponsorship details will be coming home with the kids. All of our fundraising efforts will be going towards purchasing new technology, iPads and robotics. Please encourage your family and friends to help us make this our best fundraiser ever!!!
If your child needs to bring a mobile phone to school, it MUST be handed in at the office each morning and collected after school. If you need to contact your child throughout the school day, please phone the office and we can pass on information to your child. There is no need for these devices in the primary school setting.
A reminder to everyone to be very vigilant about road safety around our school. The speed limits, parking zones and expectations of care from all are clearly defined. Another report has come to the office this morning regarding cars not stopping at the crossing. Also incidents of children crossing from the other side of Coal Point Road at the corner of Rofe Street, rather than using the school crossing. I advise anyone who sees a traffic infringement or safety concern to take the number plate of the car involved, this way the police can follow up.
Please keep an eye out for our school over the holidays. This year we have had a number of security incidents and graffiti painted around our school. Two weeks ago, we found a number of items that had been burnt. Please call School Security on 1300 880 021, if you notice anything out of the ordinary. Have a wonderful break with the children and we look forward to kicking off Term Four with students and staff returning on Monday 14th October.
Kind regards,
Ms Kim Creswell Principal
