Swan Hill Bus Lines News Letter [Edition 1, Volume 1]

Welcome
Welcome to the first edition of the Staff Newsletter. This will be a regular
round up of what’s happening throughout the company and a chance for
management to communicate directly with all of our 130 odd staff
members. Distribution will be via email, notice boards and the website.
We hope this will improve the flow of information and increase the level
of engagement across all depots. We invite contributions and feedback
from all staff. Give the office a call or email [email protected] to let us
know what you would like to see in the next newsletter!
Tamworth
Our newest expansion is in
Tamworth NSW. We have
acquired 7 School busses
and 6 new School Bus runs.
The current operators Peel
Valley Coaches have
decided to slow down and
sell, allowing us to acquire a
fully functional depot as well.
Leigh and Peter will be
heading up to Tamworth late
November to interview all
current staff and to appoint a
Tamworth Leading Hand
before SHBL takes over from
Peel Valley Coaches on the
1st of December.
Log Book Pages & Task
Force
In late August SHBL were audited
by the Heavy Vehicle Regulation
Police, from this we came out
relatively unscathed, however, as
always, there are areas we can and
must improve.
Going forward we have initiated a
log book program and will be
randomly auditing log book pages,
this is to benefit not only the SHBL
staff but the company as a whole.
We appreciate your understanding
and hope that if you have any
queries relating to your log book
that you speak to your supervisor.
SHBL will be visited by the Task
Force in November & December –
they will be holding information
sessions where they will inspect log
books. Attendance to one of these
sessions is mandatory and will be
added to your roster. This applies
to V/Line, Charter and Tour drivers.
Direct Numbers
With the addition of Emma Pickering to our team, both Emma and Leigh have been allocated direct phone numbers, these numbers are diverted to their mobile phones so you will be able to reach them at all times: Emma (03) 5032 4677 Leigh (03) 5032 4666 Please avoid calling or texting Leigh or Emma direct to their personal mobile phones. The numbers above are direct lines and the most trusted form of contact.
Congratulations to Michael Milburn
in our Dubbo branch. He has
recently been promoted into the
role of Grandparent.
Website
SHBL has updated our website, as part of this we have added a new feature of
a staff login. All employees who have provided us with an email address now
have access to the staff portal where they can find information on our policies
and procedures, links to important employee forms, award information and
access to staff newsletters and internal memos.
Each employee is given an individual username and password for the staff
login. Your username is your FIRST and LAST name as spelt on your pay slip,
your password is the last 4 digits of your employee number as stated at the top
left hand corner of your pay slip. If any staff members have not provided their
email address, we ask that you let us know so we can grant you access. If any
staff have provided us with an email address and cannot access the portal,
please contact the office.
Don’t forget to RSVP for the company Christmas Party!!
26.11.2016 in Swan Hill.

Commendations:
To Tye in our Dubbo depot who’s quick thinking saw him avoid an
accident that could have been fatal to not only him but those
around him.
Also, commendations to Mark Lee for receiving positive feedback
on his “professional driving and focus on his customer service”.
Passing on some huge thanks from Dyson’s to the staff that
worked with the V/Line rail replacement.
It was greatly appreciated and a fantastic job done by all.
The professionalism of our staff has been acknowledged by
Dysons and V/Line.
Thank you to Anne Maree from the Donald Garden club for an
enjoyable and relaxing day trip.
Sauté the onion, leek, garlic, carrot and celery until soft.
Add mince and brown for 10 minutes – stirring frequently + swig of red
wine.
Add tomatoes or passata and simmer for ½ to ¾ of an hour on low heat.
Let cool for ¼ hour.
Spray the bottom and sides of a tin foil tray or an oven dish.
Place 1 layer of Lasagna sheets then cover with mince mixture.
Add Ham or Salami and a little cheese.
Repeat this until you have 3 layers.
Top off with bread crumbs and cheese.
Put in fan forced at 180 – 200 degrees for 1 hour or until the top starts
to brown.
Enjoy
Sam
In other news…
Last week a NSW based company
encountered an issue where two pre-
school children were locked in a school
bus for the duration of the school day.
This reiterates how important the pre-
trip and post-trip checks are.
Fortunately, the children were not
harmed, although they did choose that
moment to abide by the “no eating
inside the bus” rule.
Always check your bus for stray
passengers!
