The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) launch the 2017 edition of Sustainability 4.0 Awards
Mission“To assist adoption of sustainable development practices in the organization and recognize the
efforts of front runners through a healthy benchmarking process”.
The concept of sustainability has evolved since its inception and its scope and boundary is ever increasing. The awards platform, instituted in year 2009 has been through a series of transformation in the scope of assessment, sector coverage and the program title itself. The focus has enhanced to cover all elements of a sustainable organization instead of heavily
focusing on environment sustainability.
Through this initiative, Frost & Sullivan and TERI aspires to have larger number of companies in the country moving to a structured sustainability program. The assessment process has been designed to enhance the knowledge of sustainability, highlight the best practices in the
industry and to create a roadmap for sustainable businesses.
“Safety Excellence Assessments” as an optional module was introduced three years ago. It continues this year as well where organizations can opt to have the maturity of their
safety systems diagnosed (only in manufacturing facilities) and be potentially awarded.

Safety Excellence Assessments
Overview
With its successful launch in Year 2014, organizations continue to have an opportunity to be assessed on Safety Excellence Framework and be recognized for their efforts for creating a safe workplace and imbibing safety culture.
Frost & Sullivan and TERI would like to support industries in their endeavour by providing inputs for improvements and recognizing efforts of the front runners. Creating a safe workplace improves employee morale and productivity in addition to eliminating work related accidents and incidents.

Glimpses from 2016 Banquet
Johnson & Johnson Private Limited - Mulund - Sustainable Factory of the Year Award - by Dr. Raju Ingale (Manufacturing Director, India)
Johnson & Johnson is constantly exploring opportunities to benchmark its performance not only internally, but also with respect to what is the industry best in class. This inward and outward looking approach will help us in strengthening our systems and processes. The Assessment process is very well developed and we’re witnessing significant improvisation on a year to year basis as we participated in 2015 for the 1st time and again in 2016. Such a coveted industry excellence awards framework and winning year on year on the best categories have really been humbling. Such an immense recognition also puts responsibility on the team to raise the bar higher.
Mahindra & Mahindra Limited - Igatpuri - Sustainable Factory of the Year Award - 1st Runner-up - by Mr. Vijay Kalra (Chief of Manufacturing Operations)
Sustainability 4.0 is a very comprehensive assessment framework which includes assessment in the areas of Environment, Social & Economics performance of the organisation.
