BackgroundMore than 20 storms entered the Philippines
in 2006, six of them affected Bicol directly, three of which were super typhoons
Typhoon Milenyo hit Bicol in Sept. 28, 2006, causing heavy damage in Sorsogon
Typhoon Reming (Nov. 30, 2006), directly hit Albay with maximum wind speed of 230 kph
Damages707,966 families or 3,536,342 persons
were affected in 14 provinces of 3 Regions (incl. IV-A, V)
734 dead, 2,360 injured and 762 missing persons in the 3 regions
588,037 houses were damaged - 40% totally; 60% partially
Estimated damage to agriculture and infrastructure amounted to Php 5.4 billion

1 month moratorium on penalties for individual micro loan clients
