SURF AND TURF TENNIS PROGRAMBeginner Program

The Goal of this program is to teach studentsthe core basics of tennis:

- Forehand and backhand racquet grips- Forehand and backhand strokes- Volleys- Serving- Make sure students have fun and enjoy

tennis

Program description: Players learn thefundamentals of tennis including proper gripsand stroke development. This is a fun filledclinic that will teach students thefundamentals of recreational tennis. Weutilize special equipment, such as foam balls,for this level to prepare them for full courtplay.

Program Outcome: Advance to theCompetitive Beginner Program

Competitive Beginner ProgramThe Goal of this program is to teach studentsthe following:

- The correct racquet grips and how toswitch from one to the other

- Body position and movement to performtechnically sound forehand and backhandstrokes

- Serves- Volleys and associated footwork- Hitting the balls on the rise and on the fall- Keeping score

Program description: Every lesson includeswarm up, working at the training wall, basketdrills, feeding drills and games. The studentswill be tested on a regular basis anddepending on student’s results they will bedivided into 3 groups, paired with students ata similar skill level. This will allow them totrain with appropriately skilled peers and willaccelerate the student’s progress.

In order to maximize results, specialequipment and technique is used: exercisesat the training wall, using the racket covers,“training stick”, serve toss ring, etc.

Program Outcome: Students whosuccessfully pass the final exam and achieve aminimum of 70 points in SSV testing systemwill advance to the Intermediate Clinic.

Intermediate ClinicThe Goal of this program is to improve andfine tune tennis skills gained in theCompetitive Beginner program. The studentswill work on:

- Forehand and backhand strokes- Serves- Volleys- Half volleys- Hitting the balls on the rise and on the fall- Spin control- Shot execution- Forehand and backhand slices- Short cross court and down-the-line

hitting- Game tactics for both singles and doubles

playersProgram description: Every lesson includeswarm up, exercise program, working at thetraining wall, basket drills, feeding drills andgames. The students will be tested on aregular basis and will be divided into 3training groups within the clinic. The drillswill be focused on hitting goals, shotaccuracy, strength and speed conditioning.

Program Outcome: Students whosuccessfully past tests, get SSV minimumrating of 100 and start playing USTA leveltournaments will advance to the AdvancedClinic.

Advanced ClinicThe Goal of this program is to preparestudents for success at USTA Satellite LevelTournaments and qualify for High SchoolJunior Varsity Teams. The students will workon:

- Ground strokes- Volleys- Overheads- Serving- Return of serve- Approach shots- Point structure- Strategy- Continental grip- Spin control

This program requires mandatory tournament play and allows the student to attend Saturday Match Play at the club.

Program description: Every class includesdynamic exercises, consistency hitting, basketdrills, feeding drill and point play.

Program Outcome: Students must have aminimum UTR rating of 6.0 in order toadvance to the Elite Level Clinic

Elite ClinicThe Goal of this program is to prepare thestudent for success at USTA Open leveltournaments and qualify for High SchoolVarsity Teams. The students will work on:

- Fitness- Match play- Continental grip usage- Transition game- Master spin control

This program requires mandatory tournament play and allows the student to attend Friday Match Play at the club.

Program Description: Every class includesdynamic exercises, consistency hitting, basketdrills, feeding drills, point play, match playand fitness with a professional fitness trainer.

Program Outcome: Ability to play on aCollege Tennis Team.
