Important Information
A large number of students are under the impressionthat since they have given the architecture entranceexam (JEE) conducted by CBSE, they would getadmission on the basis of this exam. As a matter of factvery few colleges accept the score of JEE. Most of the selffinancing and other architecture colleges and schools inIndia accept only NATA score. Unless and until you clearNATA exam you cannot get admission in these colleges.
Ar. Ashok Goel giving a presentation about architecture admissions in Bal Bharati Public School, GRH MARG, New Delhi on 5th November, 2012
ARCHITECTURE A large number of engineering colleges are offering
B.Tech./B.E. degree courses but the colleges offering architecture degree course are comparatively very less. While more than 19 lakhs engineers are produced every year only 4500 architects are produced per year. Only 49 thousand architects are registered in the country till December 2013. There is an estimated shortage of 7 lakh architects in the country. With expanding global economies, rising incomes, mass migration of people from rural to urban areas as a result of mass transport systems available, the demand on architecture has increased manifolds.
ARCHITECTURE SCHOOLS
Presently the number of schools offering fiveyears B. Arch. Degree course in the countryare approximately 337 and admission to thecourse in all schools of architecture iscompulsorily through aptitude tests. Thesyllabus and pattern of the tests areprescribed by Council of Architecture.
CREATIVITY
Architecture is related with creativity and creativitycannot be taught or learnt. It is a study of visualizationand that's what we teach in our academy - the correctway to visualize and analyse the subject and questionsand how to transform a student’s innovative ideas on topaper.
NATA EXAMS NATA Drawing Test - 2 hours
2 papers -100 marks each
To be given on the same day
No choice of Questions
What comes in Nata Question paper:
2 D compositions with the help of the Basic forms of geometry and colour schemes
3D compositions of various objects with the effect of light and shade . Memory Drawing of day today life with help of free hand sketches as well
as with one point and 2 Point perspective method.•
The NATA Test is in two partsThe test measures aptitude of the candidate through twosections – a paper based section for drawing and computerbased section for aesthetic sensitivity.
A paper based drawing test and computer based onlineaesthetic sensitivity test.
Drawing Test Contains 3 questions 100 Marks – 2 hours
Computer based objective test – 40 Questions – 100 marks– 1 hour approx .
DRAWING TEST
The primary emphasis in scoring the drawing section is onthe candidates drawing, imagination and observationskills. The candidates sense of proportion & perspective isalso evaluated together with sense for colour andcomposition.
Creating interesting two dimensional composition usinggiven shapes and Form
Creating visual harmony using colours in givencomposition.
Understanding of scale and proportions.
Drawing from memory through pencil sketch on themesfrom day to day experiences.
AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TESTThis is computer based test where candidate has to answer 40 multiplechoice questions. The aesthetic sensitivity test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and communication along witharchitectural awareness and comprises of - Visualising three dimensional objects from two dimensional drawings. Visualising different sides of three dimensional objects. Identifying commonly used materials and objects based on their
textural qualities.
Analytical reasoning. Mental Ability. Imaginative comprehension and expression. Architectural awareness.
AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST The candidates score will depend on his / her performance on the questions given and on
the number of questions answered in the time allotted.
This section is computer adaptive, meaning that the computer selects questions based onthe candidate’s performance on preceding questions (When correct answer is given, nextquestion will be of higher difficulty level whereas, if wrong answer is given next questionis of lower difficulty level) and on the requirements of the test design. Test design factorsthat influence which questions are presented to the candidate include:
The statistical characteristics (including difficulty level) of the questions alreadyanswered.
The required variety of question types.
During the computer based test, with adaptive testing, an examinee is administered a setof questions with a difficulty level that is specifically designed to match the examineesability level. The mathematical process for calculating a score in this situationincorporates the statistical properties of the questions, the examinees performance onthe questions, and the number of questions that are answered.
AESTHETIC SENSITIVITY TEST
The “per second” countdown begins 30 seconds before theallotted time for that question ends. In case no answer isoffered till the time ends, the question is skipped and nextquestion appears.
RE-EVALUATION
NO RE-EVALUATION IS POSSIBLE
FOR
EITHER OF THE TESTS
