FOREWORD
Th e tables in this publication contain the plane coordinates for 2g-m inute
intersections of meridians and parallels within the limits of the State . These
plane coordinates are based on the State plane-coordinate system established
by
the
U. S.
Coast
and
Geodetic Survey. Th e tables are arranged by 12 -min-
Ute bands of la titu de with the full range of lon gitude of the
State,
followed by
the coordinates for the next higher band of latitude.
These tables have been prepared for use in making maps.
Meridians and
parallels may be placed on ma ps constructed on a rectangular grid
of
the State
system, or the grid lines
of
the system may
e
placed on maps constructed on
a
projection of meridians and parallels. In th e latter case the grid will not be
truly rectangular unless the projection has been constructed on the State
system. Approxim ate values of plane coord inates
of
geographic positions may
be obtained by interpolation within the tables.
In general, this is not rec-
ommended, as it is believed to involve more numerical operations than a rig-
orous computation from the basic projection tables.
