Minnesota has posted a winning mark of 9-4-2 all-time in season openers (including a tie in 2001-02), the highest points percentagein season openers of any team in NHL history (0.667). The Wild is 4-0-1 in its last five season openers, dating back to 2011-12.Thursday’s contest marks the first time Minnesota has faced St. Louis in its season opener. 2. For the sixth time in team history, Minnesota opens the season as the road team. Coupled with last season’s opener in Colorado,Minnesota starts the season on the road in back-to-back seasons for the second time in team history, after the team’s first two seasonsin 2000 and 2001. Minnesota is 1-3-1 in season openers as the road team, going 8-1-1 all-time when opening the season as the hometeam. 3. Bruce Boudreau starts his first season with the Wild after being named the fourth head coach in team history on May 7.
