Dear Families and Friends,
As stated in a letter sent home to families this week, Farnham Developments will begin the refurbishment of Block B on the fir st week of the school holidays. We still have some items to remove from the building. If you are available to assist with the move and have your Working With Children Check, please come to school at 9.00am on Friday, 15 June. There may also be some cupboards you may be interested in recycling so please come for a look.
Our Collaborative Conferences for Term Two begin on Tuesday, 19 June at 3.45pm. The meetings continue on Wednesday, 20 June from 1.30pm – 6.30pm. Please be aware that to accommodate for these meetings, students finish at 12.55pm on Wednesday, 20 June. We feel that the Seesaw online portfolio will provide more stimulous for dialogue and the meeting will give parents a great insight into their child’s progress. Please provide me with feedback from the experience if you have time. We are keen to continuously improve the process.

Today we had eight students, Harley Young, Lana Carroll, Kiera Gibbs, Sonia Yomo, Charlotte Vella, Jake Perrett,
Caleb O’Donnell and Angus Stevens compete at the Regional Cross Country Championships in Warragul. It is quite
a feat to have that many representatives. No doubt they have performed with great determination. We look forward
to hearing of their results.
Congratulations to the soccer and football players who represented our school at the Division Winter Sports in
Bairnsdale last week. As usual, they performed as excellent sports people and their coaches came back to school
very proud.
Please join us for the Music Tuition Performance tonight at 5.00pm in the Church Hall. The performance is an
opportunity for our young musicians to show off their progress by entertaining a small crowd. Please bring a plate
to share.
Walk to school breakfast begins tomorrow, Fr iday, 15 June at the Footbr idge rotunda at 8.00am. Please
come along to walk or help out in the kitchen serving breakfast. It is always a great time for our community and a
chance to learn about road safety.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) and Students with Disability (SWD)
What is the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data?
Schools must now complete the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) every year,
in August. It counts the number of students who receive additional adjustments or ‘help” at school because of a disability. The
NCCD helps governments plan for the needs of students with disability.
Previously Catholic schools in Victoria accessed additional funding for their students with disability through the Catholic Edu-
cation Commission of Victoria (CECV) Students with Disability (SWD) program. The NCCD will replace this program and will
ensure consistency across the country, from state to state and from sector to sector.
To count a student in the NCCD, schools must consider the following:
Does the student require adjustments to be made so that they can access the curriculum on the same basis as their
peers?
Does the student have a disability according to the Disability Discrimination Act?
Have the student’s parents or caregivers been consulted with in regard to these adjustments?
Is there clear evidence of the above to support the inclusion of the student in the NCCD?
What does this mean for students currently on the CECV SWD program?
It is highly likely that students on the CECV SWD Program have already been, and will continue to be counted in the school’s
NCCD.
Documentation from specialists along with school based evidence will continue to be used to inform educational program-
ming (i.e. adjustments).
Parental Consent
Changes were made to the law (Australian Education Act 2013 and Australian Education Regulation Act 2013) which mean
that schools do not need to ask for parental consent in order to count a student.

The Singing Competition
“I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath,
scared to rock the boat and make a mess so I sit
quietly,” the awkward, old compassionate farmer
named Billy continued singing in an insane voice.
While he was leaping down the hallway in the most
mysterious way, with a weird brace thing around
his neck, and nurses staring at him.
The worst thing is that he has entered a singing and
dancing competition.
THUMB…… the audience stopped and stared.

In 4/5 Blue we have been learning about
multiplication, division and measurement
and perimeter. We used MAB blocks to find
the answer to the questions.

Yay we are finished, oh I didn’t see you there. I think you missed the whole process of STEM. I
guess you are thinking what is STEM? Well STEM is an activity my class do on Wednesdays. It is where you are
put into a team and have certain jobs; one person is the reporter, the reporter is the presenter of the finished
product, also the reporter tells his team to get back to work if they were not on task.
Another job that you will have in your team is called the testing coordinator. The testing coordinator is the
person who tests if the creation works, if it doesn’t they will have to add more ideas to the creation. Your
probably thinking what is the purpose of STEM? WE GET TO BUILD STUFF!!!! Some keys you will probably see
involve; getting along, persistence and resilience. If you were here early you would see a lot more jobs and kids

On Friday the 8 th of June, the whole school attended the Opera Australia performance called, “The Owl and the Pussy Cat.” The story included nursery rhymes, classic story characters and beautiful singing. Some of the characters were the Queen of Hearts, Agatha the Cat, Cedric the Owl, the spider from Little Miss Muffet, Mary Mary Quite Contrary, Old King Cole and the Three Blind Mice. It was breathtaking how their voices could fill the room. It was also amazing how they could control their voices and pick a pitch they wanted. It was funny at times and they got the kids engaged, overall it was an amazing performance and we would love them to come back next year.

On the 8th of June, St Brendan’s participated in the Division Winter Sports in soccer at the Bairnsdale
West oval.
We played two games and unfortunately lost both. First we played St Marys and the scores were in their
favour 2-6, and in the second game we improved by achieving a score of two to three against Bairnsdale
West
We played two 15 minute halves in each game so altogether we played an hour and it was really fun.
Although we lost we still had fun and it was a great experience all round and every one used great sportsmanship. By Ryan DeBoer & Lewis Scott
Last Friday, the 8th June, 21 year sixes and year fives went to the Bairnsdale City Oval to play football in the Division Winter Sports competition. The first team we played was Lucknow. After a good start, we eventually lost this game. The final score was 47 points to 7 points. The next game was a bit better, but we lost to West Bairnsdale 21 points to 1 point. We would like to thank Mr. B and Mick for coaching and taking us to the venue. Thanks to the parents for coming to support us. Thanks also to Adrian Bromage for umpiring and organising the event.
