Welcome Back!!!
It is with great joy that we welcome everyone back to St.
Bernadette for Mass this weekend. The past few months
have challenged us in ways we never expected; physical-
ly, emotionally, and spiritually.
This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Body
and Blood of Christ. We are reminded of the sacrifice Je-
sus made for us on the cross through His death and res-
urrection. Every time we receive the Eucharist, we are
nourished with the true Body and Blood of Christ.
As we return to Mass, it is a time of gratitude, to be able
to receive the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ in the Eu-
charist. He has been walking with us every step of the
way over the past few months; through the loss of loved
ones, loss of routine, loss of socialization, perhaps loss of
job, loss of financial stability and loss of the opportunity
to gather to worship for Sunday Mass. Hopefully, we have
also found unexpected joy or happiness along the way.
Perhaps people have reached out to you who you haven’t
heard from in a while, or perhaps you have drawn closer
to family as we were “safer at home”. Maybe you had the
opportunity to spend more time in quiet prayer either in-
dividually or as a family.
As we continue our faith journey, may we always seek to
receive the most precious Body & Blood of Jesus Christ
as we welcome him in to our hearts and become one
with Him. With this nourishment, we are sent out to share
the Good News with others.
“Lord Jesus, Who in the Eucharist make your dwelling
among us and become our traveling companion, sustain
our Christian communities so that they may be ever more
open to listening and accepting your Word. May they
draw from the Eucharist a renewed commitment to
spreading in society, by the proclamation of your Gospel,
the signs and deeds of an attentive and active charity,”
- Pope John Paul II
Gloria Koth, St. Bernadette Care Ministry
THOUGHTS TO PONDER Dear Parishioners,
As I'm sure most are aware, Bishop Ricken asked us for our prayers and input about the potential delinking of Sacred Heart and St. Bernadette's. This process began for me in December when I asked the personnel board and Fr. John about the potential reduction of Masses from five to four, with Father John being given an assignment as Pastor or administrator in his own right, and me remaining as pastor of our two parishes, so I could celebrate Mass with both parishes weekly. After giving it serious consideration, Bishop decided that to meet the needs of both parishes, the current Mass schedule should be maintained.
Not long after this, around February I was feeling that being at each parish only every other weekend wasn't the best for the parish, for Fr. John or for me. As a result, I spoke with Fr. John and Barry Metzentine, the Diocesan representative, about a possible delinking of our parishes, wherein Fr. John could be assigned Administrator at Sacred Heart and I could remain Pastor at St. Bernadette's. Bishop, as I mentioned earlier, decided he needed input from as many people as possible before making a decision. After Fr. John was consulted, so too were the leadership at Sacred Heart and St. Bernadette's. Then the staff was consulted. Finally, during the last week of May and the first day of June, two virtual town halls were held in which parishioners had an opportunity to share their thoughts and insights.
After taking into regard all the feedback he received, Bishop decided to delink our parishes effective July 1st. This decision was shared with parish leadership earlier this week and with this letter I want to share it with all of you.
I apologize for any difficulties this may cause. Know Fr. John and I will miss those of you we came to know over the past 9 months before the church closures, and will no longer will be ministering to. I pray that both Sacred Heart and St. Bernadette parishes will continue to focus on worship, service and spreading the Good News, each according to their unique charism. In closing, if I hurt anybody or disappointed anyone because of my role in all of this or because of anything I said or did that was not charitable or generous, I ask for your forgiveness and prayers.
In Christ, Rev. Joseph E. Dorner

During this time of quarantine and social distancing
many events have been put on hold, but one of those
events is our young candidates for their First Eucha-
rist. There is a study in FORMED called Lectio: Eucharist
with Dr. Brant Pitre. We hear during Mass, “The Lamb of
God,” “The Bread of Life,” The Body and Blood of
Christ”.......these are phrases we know from attending
Mass. Do we truly understand what these mean in the
context of Scripture and Church teachings? What a
treasure to learn and discover firsthand just how Christ’s
Body and Blood are an integral and fabulous part of
God’s plan for our salvation.
Parents you can view and help your children. ALL can
benefit from this study. There’s even a workbook that
you can order that’s a full covered guide at 60% off
at Https://bit/Ly/38dKOSH.

WE CAN HEAR YOU and NOW YOU CAN HEAR US!
We are excited to tell you that during the
past several months the Building and Grounds
Committee, the Technology Committee and our
musicians have been working on purchasing a new
sound system with donations received for this spe-
cific project. Previously we had a core group that
met to talk about the needs. The culmination of
this work is our new speakers have been installed
so now no matter where you are sitting you will
hear the entire Mass.
Thanks again for those who could help fi-
nancially and those who continually pray for the
needs of St. Bernadette. It is most appreciated.
There will be a virtual Baptism Prep on Thursday
June 18th. We also have Baptism Prep scheduled in
person on Thursday, July 16th. Both are at 6:30 pm.
Call the office to register.
