Printmaking: Monoprint [Age 16+]How did artists illustrate books, flyers, and newspapers before cameras? In this workshop, stu-dents will collaborate with the instructor to produce hand-pulled prints. Mono prints are a single print pressed from an inked plate. Students will learn about art historical sources for printing, how to use a printing press, beginning color printing techniques, and be individually critiqued. Call for materials list.

Printmaking: Silkscreen Printing [Age 16+]Learn how to create multi-color images and put them on fine art paper, T-shirts, fabric, or poster paper. Students will use non-toxic water-based inks and direct and indirect stencil resist materials. Methods presented will include everything from direct painting, paper stencils, crayon resist, and transparent base monotypes. Applications from this class can lead to printing posters, making stationery and greeting cards, as well as individual prints. No print experience necessary.

Experienced students use an extensive array of tools to work in virtually any medium or process: welding, wood or stone carving, clay modeling, ceramic sculpture, mold-making, bronze finish work, casting plaster or plastics, patinas, etc.

In this exhibition, the two artists come together to create collaborative works juxtaposing their two very different mediums —paper and glass. Combining exuberant abstract painting, detailed drawing, and blown and manipulated glass forms, these collaborative abstract pieces explore ideas of lenses, light, and visual warpage.

The instructor will guide students through the nuances of painting in the natural elements. students will meet each week at Prince George’s Ballroom and board an excursion van to and from the painting location. call for more information.
