Simply Dior …
A lifetime in the making of Dior… To understand a persons history creates them a memoir. To understand Christian Dior’s history, creates him a legacy of unforgettable beauty. December 16, 1946 became a day to remember. The first day of the founding of Dior. With over 65 years of having exquisite designs, fragrances and beauty to remember, the iconic Harrods luxury department store have created an exclusive tribute to the French house for all of the public to see. We enter the life of Christian Dior from the fourth floor. A storybook of an icon comes to life. Upon entrance we see a façade of 30 Avenue Montaigne, the original headquarters of Dior where the magic first began – created into a giant dollhouse through the windows were miniature displays of Dior fragrance bottles glistening under the spotlights. Travelling across each room displayed a different era to remember. Slipping on tight a pair of headphones, we were able to sit back and embrace a series of true Dior inspired Adverts that have never been forgotten. From London to Paris, Milan to L.A each person could connect with their city to recreate what Christian would have wanted us to see.
Even a woman’s scent can say a thousand words, yet no smell can make you forget Dior.
Travelling through an array of Dior excitement, we were given an exceptional viewing of never seen before first sample garments. Designs that appeared to us as perfection, but not fit enough be sold as Dior. These all white samples were as to say a practise of what would become timeless masterpieces. Christian applied the upmost effort whether it were for our eyes or his eyes alone.

We could argue that these garments above are fit for a princess to wear; yet they were merely just samples of what would be.

Although we are not blessed to still continue on having the creations from the master himself. The beauty of what Dior represents still continues today. Never forgotten and will always remain.

The entire exhibition took us through what the fashion house represents, from how it began in France to the assembling of a
classic Dior handbag, followed by a red carpet moment of show
stopping dresses worn by iconic women such as Audrey Hepburn finishing with a viewing of how Dior simply resembles elegance
and nothing more.
With a Harrods finish, they especially set up a smaller staged theatre of Dior collections from 1953. The image was everlasting and the icing on the cake to the whole event -‐ which to ones choice could have been continued with a taste of Dior delight with exclusive café inspired by Christians love of food. Dior meets London… an essential part of 2013.
Deep in every heart slumbers a dream and the couturier knows it: every woman is a princess.” Christian Dior
