Introduction
Malcolm beare built an innovative hybrid design of the I C engine, by combining a two stroke with a four stroke engine.
The Beare Head is a new type of four stroke engine head design known as the “Beare Head”.
The Beare Head uses a piston and ports very much like a two stroke engine to replace the over head valve system that is found in four stroke engines today. The four stroke block, pistons and crankshaft remain unaltered. This combination of two stroke and four stroke technology has given the engine its name – the “six stroke engine” (2 + 4 = 6).

Advantages
1) Thermal efficiency reaching 50%.
2) Fuel consumption reduced by more than 40%.
3) Reduction of chemical, noise, thermal pollution, Less friction –so, less
ware and tear.
4) Cost is economical compare to 4 stroke engine.
5) optimal fuel combustion at every engine speed so Overall efficiency is
higher.
![Page 19: Six stroke-engine-presenation-by vijay b r](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042522/55a68bcc1a28ab825f8b4714/html5/thumbnails/19.jpg)
Advantages
7) Due to more air intake, the cooling system is improved.
8) It does not require basic modification to the existing engine, all
technological and production methods remain unaltered.
9) Less inertia due to lightness of moving parts.
10) Multifuels (diesel, L.P.G, petrol & Methanol-petrol mixture etc.)
![Page 20: Six stroke-engine-presenation-by vijay b r](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042522/55a68bcc1a28ab825f8b4714/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
Dis advantages
Engine size increases due to many number of cylinders & additional
components.
Break power & indicated power per cycle per cylinder is
comparatively lesser.
![Page 21: Six stroke-engine-presenation-by vijay b r](https://reader034.vdocuments.site/reader034/viewer/2022042522/55a68bcc1a28ab825f8b4714/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
Applications
Perfectly suitable for Motorboats.
Motor –pumps ,stationary engines & generators, in
agriculture and industry field.
Heavy goods, automobiles & farm vehicles.
Many more applications may also be envisaged.

Conclusion
In a six stroke engine the energy absorption is less because of slower acceleration of reciprocating parts.
In the Beare design, per single cylinder, the number of parts is 15 compared to a four stroke of approx, 40 to 50 parts. Also, to reduce manufacturing costs is less
Increased torque and power output. The bottom piston is a standard design and the Beare Head bolts
directly onto the engine block.

Better fuel economy and cleaner burning longer service intervals and considerably reduced tooling costs when compared with a conventional fourstroke design.
For normal sixstroke car engine mileage for 45 liter is 100km.
In four stroke engine for every 2 complete rotation of crank shaft fuel ignition takes place, but in sixstroke fuel ignition takes place for every 3 complete rotation of crank shaft.
