1. ABOUT INSTITUTE
The institute was established in 2006 under the auspices of Shree Saraswati
Education Sansthan. The institute is situated in a green environment at Dhanap, 10 Kms
away from Gandhinagar, a capital city of Gujarat. Sips aspires to be a premier pharmacy
institute, providing holistic academic standards which are relevant to the needs of the
industry and the nation without compromising on ethical and moral standards.
Affiliation: Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences is approved by All India Council
for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi; Pharmacy Council of India, New Delhi and
affiliated to the Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad.

Dear Readers,
It gives me immense pleasure to write to you
on the Third issue of AVALOKAN. Having seen
the previous two issues of AVALOKAN, I wish to
congratulate the Institute for conducting excellent array of activities. AVALOKAN showcases
various activities conducted to augment the 360-degree development of students. Guest
lectures on different topics by eminent personalities provide remarkable opportunity to
students. One day symposium on “Role of Pharmacist: Healthcare system” is useful for harness
creativity of the students. The activity like “Health check up and Activity camp at old age home”
is important for the students to aware of their family and social responsibilities. Cycle awareness
campaign and blood donation camp inculcate health awareness and social responsibilities.
Extracurricular activities such as Pharma Ramzat, Ganpati Mahotsav and Janmashtami Utsav are
useful to develop students holistically. I congratulate SIPS family for the excellent activities and
programs carried out. I really appreciate the team of AVALOKAN for their extraordinary efforts.

College life was the best journey of my life. Whenever I remember my College days, I get tears in
my eyes. These six years were like six days for me which completed very fast. But, during these
days many memories have been created with many events, fun activities, tours and enjoyment
with study. Environment of SIPS was very nice just like a family. The teachers were like a
backbone for me, friends were the reason for my smile and juniors were like younger siblings.
College made me the person who I am today Bold & confident!! My biggest learning has been
here at SIPS. Currently I used to see the activities of SIPS on social media as well as on
AVALOKAN E news letter. AVALOKAN includes milestone achievement and activities done in the
institute which makes me proud. AVALOKAN E-Newsletter is a very good initiative and I want to

4. TRAINING AT APOLLO HOSPITAL
Duration of training:
Phase-1: 22nd May 2019 to 06th June 2019 (15 days)
Phase-2: 08th June 2019 to 23rd June 2019 (15 days)

Participating student: 24 students (5th SEM B.Pharm)
Institute is always believed to give actual hospital pharmacy exposure to students.
In view of that, hospital training program was arranged at Apollo hospital International
ltd. for 5th Sem. students in two phase during 22nd May 2019 to 06th June 2019 (Phase-1:
15 days) and 08th June 2019 to 23rd June 2019 (Phase-2: 15 days). Total 24 students from
5th Sem participated in the training program. At hospital level internship was coordinated
by the Mr. Nipul Kapadia (AGM, Pharmacy Department, Apollo hospital). They divide
student in groups and send them to various departments like IP (In-Patient Pharmacy
department), OP (Out Patient department) and CP (Clinical Pharmacy department).
During training students had learn about the arrangement & storage of medicine,
dispensing procedure for regular & narcotic drugs, counselling of patient, prescription
filling, prescription checking and responsibilities of hospital pharmacist. Student got
knowledge about checking of drug-drug interaction and reporting of drug-drug
interaction to doctor.
The training was really beneficial for the students. One experience sharing session
had arranged at institute level after completion of training to motivate other students for
participation in these type of training program.

5. CYCLING AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
Our institute had organized a cycling awareness campaign to aware people about
benefit of cycling. Students and faculty members joined the campaign with poster and
banners to make the program more effective. The common message that institute want
to pass on is “cycling is not just to show people but it is for inner confidence to boost up
your health.” People should wake up in the early morning and do cycling. Everyone felt
the fresh breeze and enjoyed a lot throughout the campaign.

6. JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN
Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences had celebrated Jal Divas on 22nd
July 2019. As a part of different activities, Institute had organized Drawing competition
on theme of “Jal Shakti Abhiyan” to aware and motivates students to save water in their
routine life. Students and Faculty members (Total 41) prepared excellent drawings
related to theme of “Jal Shakti Abhiyan” and were evaluated on the basis of theme, idea,
creativity and presentation skills by the judges. Students were awarded with ranks. The
students and faculty members have exhibited their thoughts through drawings with
creativity. The rank was as follows.

7. JANMASHTMI MAHOTSAV
On 23rd August 2019, Krishna Janmotsav (Janmasthami) was celebrated by
students of Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. It brought devotion,
creativity, enjoyment and fun all together. Students along with faculty members do
worship of lord Krishna. The celebration begins by offering homage full of devotion to
lord krishna through Shri Krishna Aarti by Faculties and the students of B.Pharm,
M.Pharm & Pharm.D. On this occasion Rangoli, Matki Decoration and Dahi handi
programs were organized. Krishna's birth anniversary was celebrated in a big way with
slogan like Nand Ghar aanand bharyo Jai Kanaiyalal Ki... and a program ended with
"Matki fod" and Ras Garba.

8. TEACHER’S DAY
We celebrate Teachers’ day every year throughout the country on 5th September.
Students express their gratitude and appreciation for their teachers on this day. The
celebration is dedicated to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan – second President of India. He
was great academic philosopher, and one of the most well known diplomats, scholar,
president of India and above all a teacher. As a tribute to this great teacher, his birthday
has been celebrated as teachers' day. A celebration was organised at our Institute by
students. The responsibility of teaching was taken up by the students as an appreciation
for their teachers.
Total 46 students participate in teacher’s day as per timetable from 09:30 a.m. to
3:00 p.m. The methodology of teaching was evaluated by previously decided evaluators.
Among the participant best teachers were appreciated by Institute. The role of Principal
and Vice Principal were played by the Mr. Suthar Dhruv and Ms. Modh Riddhi
respectively. The participated students had appreciated all professors with pen &
flowers. Celebration of Teachers day was successful.

9. GANESH MAHOTSAV
The students of Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical sciences, gandhinagar
celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi with great pomp and gaiety on 05th September 2019.
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha. The festival is also
known as Vinayaka Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav.
As a symbol of environment protection, Students had prepared eco friendly idol of
Ganeshji. The session started with a traditional lamp lighting and arti. In the evening the
celebration ended at 5’O clock with Visarjan of Ganesh with dance and music at college
garden. After Ganesh immersion everybody missed heavy soul. But sadness never longer
because next year bappa will come for blessing again.

10. BLOOD DONATION CAMP 2019

Participating students: (Total 70 Participants)
National Service Scheme Unit of Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dhanap
– Gandhinagar had organized Blood Donation Camp in association with “Sarvoday
Cheritable Trust blood bank, Ahmedabad” on 15th September 2019 at, Gate No. 1,
Kankariya lake, Near BRTS bus Stand, Pushpakung, Ahmedabad, Gujarat as part of
various activities of the NSS unit.
Total 43 units of blood were donated by the students, teachers and local residents. The
information regarding blood donation was given to students and motivated them to
donate the blood for the noble causes. The student volunteers had explained benefits of
blood donation to the local residents those who came for morning walk at Kankaria lake
front. These kinds of activity inculcate social responsibilities in the students.

11. WORLD PHARMACIST DAY: A STATE LEVEL SYMPOSIUM
ON “HEALTHCARE SYSTEM: ROLE OF PHARMACIST” A state level symposium on “Healthcare System: Role of Pharmacist” organized by
Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dhanap, Gandhinagar sponsored by
Gujarat State Pharmacy Council, Ahmedabad. More than 430 students from 14 different
Pharmacy colleges of Gujarat participated in symposium. Inaugural Ceremony was
followed by registration and breakfast.
INAUGURAL CEREMONY:
Symposium was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Chief Guest Dr. Sanjeev Acharya,
Principal Scientific Officer, GUJCOST, Guest of Honor Mr. Nipul Kapadiya (DGM and
Head, Pharmacy dept., Apollo Hospital Inter-national Pvt. Ltd., Gandhinagar, Patron
Shri K. G. Patel, President, Saraswati Education Sansthan Trust, Convener Dr. S. K. Shah,
Principal, SIPS and Organizing Secretary Dr. Ankit Chaudhary, Professor and Head,
Quality Assurance dept., SIPS.
Dr. Ankit Chaudhary had introduced the Guests. Dr. S. K. Shah had given brief outline
about Institute, Gujarat State Pharmacy Council and about the symposium. Shri K. G.
Patel had motivated students to do research activities in pharmaceutical sciences to help
society and country by reducing the health related issues.
Dr. Nipul Kapadiya had given inspirational speech on importance of pharmacist in health
care system especially in hospitals with theory of 3 pillar system in hospitals including
pharmacist with doctor and nursing staff.
Dr. Sanjeev Acharya had explained the importance of pharmacist in health care system.
He also focused on importance of pharmacist in approval of drugs through regulatory
bodies of countries. Dr. Dhaval J. Patel, Professor, SIPS had expressed the vote of thanks.

11. WORLD PHARMACIST DAY: A STATE LEVEL SYMPOSIUM
ON “HEALTHCARE SYSTEM: ROLE OF PHARMACIST”
SCIENTIFIC EVENTS:
EVENT 1: Pharma-Diction (elocution competition) event was followed by plenary session.
Total 22 students of various pharmacy colleges had expressed their views on theme
“Role of Pharmacist: Health care system”. Dr. V. M. Patel (Principal, APMC College of
Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Himmatnagar) and Dr. Harsha U. Patel
(Principal, K. J. College of Pharmacy, Vadasma) had offered their service as evaluator for
Pharma-Diction competition. First three winners were awarded with trophy and
certificates.
EVENT 2: In the post lunch session Pharma Canvas (Poster making) was conducted. 65
students had prepared creative posters by different means of drawings. Dr. Mamta B.
Shah (Professor and Head, Dept of Pharmacognosy, L. M. College of Pharmacy,
Ahmedabad) and Dr. Rajesh P. Parmar (Professor, APMC College of Pharmaceutical
Education and Research, Himmatnagar) had evaluated the posters.
EVENT 3: 75 students had participated in Pharma Canvas (Pharma Toons) based on
theme of symposium. Pharma Toons were evaluated by Dr. Ragin R. Shah (Principal,
Arihant School of Pharmacy and BRI, Adalaj) and Dr. Dilip Maheshwari (Professor, L. J.
Institute of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad). First three winners in both events awarded with
trophy and certificates.
EVENT 4: Pick the Grid. It was cross word based on the Pharma words. Total 40 team had
participated in pick the Grid. Elimination, first and final round were conducted. Whole
event was evaluated by Dr. Hiren Chaudhary, Associate Professor, Nootan Pharmacy
College, Visnagar. First three winner teams awarded with trophy and certificates.

12. Navratri Function (PharmaRamzat-2K19)
Saraswati institute of pharmaceutical science, Dhanap, Gandhinagar organized
Navaratri function 2019 on 03rd October 2019 at the college campus. Navaratri is known
as a festival for worship to the deities. In Gujarat major communities were expressed
their worship to the different deities by playing Garba in Navaratri. College is always
organizing this type of function for the overall development of students. The Navaratri
function started with lighting of lamps followed by Aarti of Saraswati. Students of
B.Pharm, M.Pharm, and Pharm.D have actively participated in the event. Garba was
started from 9:30 am and end up at 01:30 pm. Lunch facility to the all student provided
by the college management. In afternoon session students were appreciated with the
prize distribution. Best dress and best Garba dancer award distributed among the
participated students. At the end of function happiness on the faces of students were
observed. The whole function was successfully finished with the help of principal sir,
trustee of the college and all faculty & students coordinator.

13. HEALTH CHECK UP AND ACTIVITY CAMP Date of Camp: 20/11/2019
Place of Camp: Rahelba Vruddhashram, “Ichhaba Ashktashram”, Magodi, Gandhinagar.

National Service Scheme Unit of Saraswati Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dhanap
– Gandhinagar has organized Health check up and activity camp on 20th November 2019
at Rahelba Vrudhishram, Magodi, Chiloda Dahegam Road, Gandhinagar, Gujarat as part
of various activities of the NSS unit. About 60 students and 3 teachers from the Pharmacy
College had participated in this camp. Students have measured various health
parameters like height, weight, body mass index, blood pressure and random blood
sugar for diabetes of 50 elder person living in this Old age home. Students had given
proper guidance on medicines and awareness regarding the health issues.
Also, fruits and snacks were distributed by student to the elder people. Lunch was also
provided by the college. After the meal, the student organized various programs such as
songs, dances, play and fun for entertainment of the elder people. The elder people had
also actively participated in games, dance, singing and garba and enjoyed the whole day
with students. Prizes were distributed to the winners of game by the students. During
the whole day, elders shared their experiences of life with the students. Such activities
also improve the learning of the students. This camp was very useful for the students.

Very knowledgeable Lecture was given by Dr. Modasiya Mohmadmoin Khalilahmed,
Managing partner and Research scientist, Sanjar Pharma LLP., Himmantnagar. He
explained working of various departments in parentrals. He enlightens various types of
raw materials, methods of sampling and testing as well as acceptance criteria used in
parentrals. He discussed in detail about types of sterilization, mehods used for
sterilization and various instruments used for different types of materials used in
parentral. He also discuss about precaution required during working in parenteral
manufacturing area. Students got idea about career map regarding to work in parental
industry.

Very informative Lecture was given by Ms. Rutu Gandhi, Project Manager, Drug Safety
department at APCER Life Sciences. She discussed the theoretical aspect of
Pharmacovigilance and how the pharmacovigilance industry deals with it. She also
discussed various adverse drug reactions observed after clinical trials (phase IV) such as
Rafecoxib , Telmisartan, Valsartan. She explained the role of Phamacovigilance team.
She also discussed the various designations and departments of pharmacovigilance
industry. The lecture was very useful for students.

He explained very well about Effective communication, types of communication and how
to utilize it in regular lifestyle. He explained the Key benefits of good communication
skills for leaders that include 1) Ability to deliver messages that inspire your audience to
take action, 2) Confidence when presenting ideas and the company vision to your team
and 3) Effectively conveying your insights and recommendations. He whispered that
communication starts when you take over a new leadership role and need to describe
your leadership philosophy, priorities and goals for the organisation. Below are the key
techniques and principles for delivering your messages: He explained in detail about one
way communication, two way communications, verbal communication, non verbal
communication, formal communication, oral communication, written communication
and interpersonal communication, the students enjoyed the lecture and learn many
things which will improve their leadership & communication skill.

Very knowledgeable Lecture was given by Dr. S. Mohan, Principal, Karpagam College of
Pharmacy; Tamilnadu. He explained the antimicrobial resistance, various reasons for
development of antimicrobial resistance. He focused the roll of clinical pharmacist in
containment of antimicrobial resistance to the students. He also enlightens the roll of
pharmacist to make society aware & avoid the unnecessary use of antimicrobial agents.
He discussed few case studies of antimicrobial resistance. Students got idea about the
new scope of working in this area.

Ms. Chaitali Patel explained about the Ariz sanitary pads to all girls and beneficial use of
it. She explained it through demonstration of the sanitary pad and contents used for
manufacturing of pad.
She explained in detail comparison it with plastic pads. Ariz are biodegradable and so
eco-friendly in nature. Lecture was very useful for prevention of uterine cancer and

Very knowledgeable Lecture was given by Mr. Anubhav Yadav, Assistant marketing
manager, Strom Oversees Education. He explained about various courses available for
pharmacy graduates in the developed countries. He enlightened the examination pattern
for student visa in various countries. He also made the students understand the
advantages of citizenship in various developed countries. The lecture was very
informative to all the students who want to make their career in pharmacy in the
developed countries such as Canada, USA, UK and Australia.
