Dear God, I want to be a follower of Yours.
Help me to follow You and only seek Your
ways and not the ways of this world.
I love You, Lord. Amen.
Frank Bianchi
Anyone who serves me must follow me. And
where I am, my servant will also be. My
Father will honor the one who serves me.
John 12:26 (NIRV)
Serving God comes with a reward; living the
way God wants us to live gives us the gift of
eternal life in Jesus Christ. We have the
eternal gift of happiness and joy. Therefore,
we should do our best to follow Christ at all
times to receive the reward of eternal life.
You cannot serve Christ and serve the world
at the same time, meaning you can’t
claim you love God and continue
to sin. Whether it be big or small,
it’s important to serve God.
Dear God, I want to serve You. Help me to
remember that anything I do for You, large or
small, is important. Thank You for loving me.
I love You, Lord. Amen.

Sometimes when we look at those who
serve the Lord, we might get the feeling that
God only notices the BIG jobs that are getting done
for Him. These might be jobs like preaching,
teaching and leading songs. However, God
tells us to believe in Him, and work hard at
whatever job He gives us to do. Maybe your job is to
be a friend to someone who is sitting alone. Or, it could
be that you collect food for a food pantry. God’s Word
promises there is nothing you do for God that is a
waste of time or effort.
My dear brothers and sisters remain strong in
the faith. Don’t let anything move you. Always
give yourselves completely to the work of the
Lord. Because you belong to the Lord, you know
your work is not worthless.
1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIRV)
How can you serve God every day? Maybe you could
do the dishes, or help cook dinner. You can
take a walk with your housemate, and ask
about his/her day. Maybe you could help a
co-worker with a tough job at work. You can
say something encouraging to your guardian
or caregiver. You could smile at someone in the
grocery store. There are many simple ways to
serve God, each and every day!
Dear God, show me simple ways that I
can serve You every day. I want everyone
to know how much You mean to me!
I love You, Lord. Amen.
There are different ways to serve. But
they all come from the same Lord.
1 Corinthians 12:5 (NIRV)
A beautiful young woman was working hard and did a
very good job. However, she complained every single
day about how many hours she had to work and how
hard she had to work. God tells us that we should do
our jobs for Him. Imagine getting to do a job for God!!
That would be very exciting and rewarding. If we
realize that we do all of our work for God, it is much
easier to do our best, be joyful, and love the people
around us. I want to work for God! How about you?
In all the work you are given, do the best you can. Work
as though you are working for the Lord, not any earthly
master. Colossians 3:23 (NIRV)
Dear God, remind me that all my good and hard work
is for You. Give me joy in my heart and help me be a
loving example to others. I love You, Lord. Amen.
Julie Oehme
Faith in God is very important. It’s also
important to live out that faith in our lives.
This is called having an active faith. It
means that we serve God, whether it be
in worship, helping others, sharing
about God, and being joyful in our work.
We can serve God in many ways, and
actively live out our faith. What are some
ways you can serve God?
Dear God, show me ways that I can serve You
each and every day. Help me to be active in my
faith, and that my good deeds help others come
to know You. I love You, Lord. Amen.
In the same way, let your light shine so others can
see it. Then they will see the good things you do.
And they will bring glory to your Father who is in
heaven. Matthew 5:16 (NIRV)
When you serve other people, are you serving
God? Yes, you are! When we help others, we are
showing our love for God. It pleases Him
when we love other people, and serve them.
One way we can serve others is through service
projects, like working at a food pantry or putting
together school supplies for children who need them.
We can help paint someone’s front porch, or gather first-
aid packages for people suffering from natural disasters.
When we actively serve others, we are also serving God!
Dear God, I want to joyfully serve others.
When I do this, I am also serving You. I want
to please You in everything that I do!
I love You, Lord. Amen.
God’s gifts of grace come in many forms.
Each of you has received a gift in order
to serve others. You should use it faithfully.
1 Peter 4:10 (NIRV)
Many times serving God brings joy. But,
sometimes it can be hard. Serving God might
involve things that are uncomfortable for us, like
sharing our faith with a person who is angry at
God, or forgiving someone who has been mean to
us. In the Bible, Jesus tells His disciples that they
must carry a cross in order to follow Him. This is
also true for us. Being a Christian isn’t always
easy. However, we are never alone. The Holy
Spirit is with us, and He helps to guide us
through hard situations. The next time you are
faced with a challenge remember that you are
serving God, and the Holy Spirit is with you!
Dear God, I love serving You. But sometimes it
can be hard. Help me remember that Your Spirit
is always with me, and will guide me.
I love You, Lord. Amen.
Then Jesus spoke to His disciples. He said,
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must say no
to themselves. They must pick up their cross
and follow me.” Matthew 16:24 (NIRV)
