Happy New 4-H Year!!!!!
It is the month of September and that means it is
a new year for all sorts of things! Such as a NEW
4-H year here in Jefferson County!
Before the new year can officially start we can
wrap the year up with RECORD BOOKs! I know
this seems like it can be a hassle but it will be so
much fun to look back at where you started and
see how far you have came in 4-H!
Please take advantage of doing your record
book and keep in mind there are many awards
that 4-H youth are eligible for. Each youth should
have received a packet in the mail that had the
record book guide and application. If you did not
receive this, please let me know and I am more
than happy to get that sent to you!
As we start the new 4-H year I want to give a
huge thank you shout out to all of our club
leaders, volunteers, Youth Committee, 4-H and
Clover Kids,
Fairboard and
Extension Staff &
Council! Without all
of you we could
not have the great
program we do
have here in
Jefferson County! Please know that every single
one of you makes a difference and YOU are
greatly appreciated! Looking forward to another
great productive year here in Jefferson County!
Once again THANK YOU!
Best Wishes,
4

terschool programs in the Fairfield School Dis-
trict. These FREE programs will be enriched with
hands-on, educational activities in a safe and
caring environment. Please call 472-4166 or
email [email protected] if you are inter-
ested in any of the programs at the following lo-
cations:

ginning October 1st thru April 28th
Fairfield Middle School

New Youth Outreach Educator
We are very excited to be adding Clint Mer-
cer to our team! He will be heading up the
after-school programs and many other youth
programs here in Jefferson County. Clint’s
first day will be September 9th! He is very ex-
cited to start all the programs and getting to
interact with the youth!
Volunteers Needed
In order to keep growing our program, we are in
need of more caring adults and/or high
school students to serve as volunteers! We
will be happy to work with any interests or
schedule limitations. Examples of volunteer po-
sitions: afterschool program volunteer, 4-H/
Clover Kid assistant leader, event volunteers,
etc. Some of these positions may be perfect for
high schoolers looking for a leadership oppor-
tunity and a way to earn community service
hours. Please share this opportunity with any-
one who may be interested! They may contact
our office at 472-4166 or email
Trunk or Treat—Save the
Date!

DAY, October 26th from 2-4pm. All 4-H
Clubs are encouraged to participate with a
trunk full of tricks-or-treats! Groups can
also take advantage of some of our kits
and do activities instead of doing candy
as it can be expensive.
Zombies Needed
Fairboard will be hosting another Zombie
Run on Saturday October 26th in the
morning before Trunk Or Treat. They are
asking for the help of Zombies from 4-H
youth! If you have any interest in being a
zombie and helping please let Kolby Free-
man know at [email protected].

Awards Night Save the date
Awards night will be on November 2nd starting
at 6pm the Cambridge
Building. Families are invited to
attend this night where we
recognize 4-H youth and
Volunteers! Please mark this
date in the calendar!
Awards Night Table
Decorations
Youth Committee is asking for the help of clubs
to help decorate the tables. Asking that each
club help make at least two table top
decorations. Please stick with the theme of
“upcycled” and remember these are for table
tops! We can’t wait to see what each club
designs!
Teen Council
This is open to youth in grades 6th-12th. Helps
to gain leadership skills and gives you a voice
to plan activities for the youth here in Jefferson
County. Applications are due by September
20th at 4:30pm Applications can be found

Enrollment fees
In past years the Extension Council has
covered all enrollment fees for 4-H and Clover
Kids. Unfortunately this year council will cover
$15 of the $35 fee for 4-H youth. This leaves
each youth with a fee of $20 for the whole year.
The fees won’t be due until June 1st to the
extension office. We have set this date to give
families the option to fundraise if they wish too.
All families will have the option to opt out and
simply pay the amount due. We will be doing
two fundraisers, one in the fall and one in the
spring.
Yankee Candle Fundraiser
Starting October 7th we will be starting our
fundraiser through Yankee Candle. Each family
will receive a catalog and an order form for cat-
alog sales. There is also a link so people can
order online and pay with a card. All they would
do is type in our number and each youth can
register to have their own number, so when or-
ders are placed it shows it was to support that
youth.
There are many differently items in the catalog
that will fit many people. For an example if
each 4-H youth sold just three candles their en-
rollment fee would be covered. We are very ex-
cited about this fundraiser and hope you are as
well. I will be attending most of the September
4-H meetings to present about the fundraiser
and answer any questions you may have. If
you wish to look at the online catalog you can
use this link: https://

NATIONAL 4-h WEEK
National 4-H week is October 6th-12th. Be on
the look out for some fun events this week!

Clover Kid Corner:
We are going to try and do a clover kids corner. This would have
information that only relates to our youth in grades K-3. Many things
do pertain to both Clover Kids and 4-H youth but there are some things
that only pertain to our clover kid groups.
Enrollment fees-
$5 for the whole year. This covers your enrollment fee and helps to
get supplies for club meetings. You will have the option to fund
raise with Yankee Candle and fair shirts or can opt out and pay the
$5 to the extension office by June 1st.
