Multi-Sport Athlete It is the philosophical foundation of the Canby High School Athletic Department that being multi-sport athletes is the best scenario for our young student-athletes for three primary reasons:
1 – Better Body Health. The medical field is coming forward with research around the injuries kids are enduring as a result of overuse focus from one sport participation. Multi-sport participation balances the physical wear and tear on the developing bodies of our students for lifelong health.
2 – Better Overall Athlete. By being in varying competitive settings and game situations, young athletes develop more as athletes and their ability to react in competitive situations.
3 – Better Students. By being invested in a team setting throughout the year, students are monitored by high school staff regarding grades that will help them be better overall students.
Student Athlete Canby student-athletes are students first and their dedication to their athletic pursuits should add to their educational experiences.
