science and technology department, the specialized
agencies (e.g. Chinese Academy of Sciences and the
National Natural Science Foundation of China) and
enterprises as the main players to carry on multilateral or
bilateral cooperation and exchange of STI with other
countries or regions or international organizations, such as
negotiations,visits,attending international conferences and establishing research institutes, in order to promote
STI progress, economic and social development for the
purpose, based on principles of mutual benefit and
mutual development.”

Science Diplomacy under BRI
In the coming five years, China will offer 2,500
short-term research visits to China for young foreign
scientists, train 5,000 foreign scientists, engineers
and managers, and set up 50 joint laboratories.
The special plan also setting 12 key areas, including
agriculture, energy, transportation, information and
communication, resources, environment, marine,
advanced manufacturing, new materials,
aerospace, medicine and health, disaster
prevention, and mitigation.
