Date 8th April 2020
Dear Parents,
Jai Sai Ram
It is with great pleasure that we would like to announce that we have started our virtual SSE
classes following the great response we have had from our recent audio SSE classes taking place
from the last few weeks.
Please provide us your feedback on your experience so far and how we can improve this better
and we would love to hear from you.
If you would like to join your child’s virtual class, please feel free to send us an email and we
can get you started quickly. We are hopeful this will help all children and the entire Sai family to
keep connected spiritually and will have a positive impact during these tough times.
These are extraordinary times which demand extraordinary measures, and we the gurus of SSE
are wholeheartedly committed to sustaining our children’s educare and spiritual learning, as
the best we can. We, the Gurus team are ourselves going through loads of training sessions on
how we can improve from our end and conduct these classes in the most creative and
interactive way as possible. Our ability to do this will naturally be influenced by the health of
the SSE teams themselves and of our families too. We are also learning as we go along and
making changes to provide the best. We are sure you’ll be able to support us as we will work
together as one big Sai Family.
Aim of these virtual classes:
Swami has given us a tool of SSE to help sharpen our children’s future with the help of Value
Based education. We, the gurus of SSE would like to continue this spiritual journey the children
are on and would like to provide SSE sessions class wise through a social media platform during
the SSE term as usual.
Each guru has created their own class groups via google hangouts or other social media
platforms like What’s app whichever is most suited to that group size and availability.
We are refraining from Zoom as it has some security related issues and not going to be using
that media platform currently unless it gets sorted I the near future. Each class parent or child
will be contacted by your respective class teachers to coordinate the day of the week and time
that’s most convenient to the class group if Sunday morning is not most appropriate. Having
said that most of the classes are taking place on Sunday at 10:00am like it would’ve been in the
normal circumstances.
How will these classes take place ?

Play Group – There are no classes being conducted at this current point of time as the
children are too young and parents are engaged in the SSE fold in different ways
Nursery – This group is our youngest group in a classroom set up and learning is more using
visual aids(like photographs, pictures and video links) showing a step by step guidelines for the
various activities to help conduct interactive classes, google hangout classes are in full swing
and are doing well.
Group 1 – This group will require parents to accompany them during the virtual sessions to
allow the gurus to get their full attention to a maximum time span of 20 minutes at any given
point of time. This group will be given appropriate rest and water breaks to keep them engaged
virtually. The use of audio-visual techniques is used to help impart the Sai lesson. Some of the
lessons plan and sheets have been posted to the respective parents to plan the lessons more
effectively. The lessons are carrying on very well.
Group 2 – This group of children are older, more independent and most of them also possess
their own personal devices and email addresses to allow the Sai Spiritual lessons to be
delivered with minimum adult supervision. Children of this group are slightly more independent
to sit in front of a laptop or device and can digest information imparted for a maximum of 40
minutes to 55 minutes without any breaks. Classes for this group are running through What’s
app or Google Hangout sessions and running very smoothly.
Group 3 and Group 4 – This group will be imparted lessons through their own personal devices
and set homework which can be marked by gurus setting a set deadline. Children of this age
group can sit through these lessons on their own with very little adult supervision. Gurus can
organise a session which lasts for an hour or longer if required. Classes are running through
Google hangout call sessions and running very successfully.
Work can be sent back to teachers for (electronic) marking. If the work is written out, the
easiest way to do this is to scan the work using a free scanning app (available from Google Play,
Windows Store etc.) rather than taking a normal photo. The work is much easier to read and
mark if it is scanned rather than photographed. Photos can still be used to send to your teacher
particularly of practical activities set.
If you have questions about the provision of work, please contact your child’s class teacher via
email or telephone and we would be happy to talk to you.
How you can support your child
Please bear in mind we are all aware of the difficulties each of us might be facing in terms of
work pressures and frustrating times as many of us are stuck at home. We, by no means want
to add to your other pressures of your already hectic life schedules. If you feel there is too
Sathya Sai Centre of Leicester

much going on and would like to speak to your child’s guru for further support, we are more
than happy to help over a phone call or text message.
We are very aware that children will respond in different ways to virtual learning. Some will be
able to manage their time effectively and will make most of the session, whilst some of us will
find it a challenge to stay focused and will struggle to work effectively but we are all on a
learning journey and we pray to Swami to guide us through every step.
Where possible we suggest that you:
Actively monitor your child’s email account (where applicable), discussing with them
the work that has been set and helping them plan out their activities.
Encourage your child to concentrate and take part wherever possible
Set up a quiet space for your child to sit during the SSE session, with minimal
distractions, in the same room as you so that they are less tempted to lose focus.
Alongside the activities set by gurus it is important that the children have time to: -
Play games - Carry out practical activities - Enjoy some “outside” time - Take part in
physical exercise - Share stories - Prepare and eat meals together - Practise musical
instruments - Write letters to neighbours and elderly relatives who may be isolated
due to the restrictions placed currently.
Whilst it may be important for your child to remain in touch with other children
during the lock down, social media could present a huge distraction during sessions.
Please do your best to monitor and restrict this access. Especially for Group 2,3 and
4 SSE children.
