Wilkins & Dallas Method Statement Date: JANUARY 2016 The following method statements and risk assessments have been developed to provide a safe system of work and must be adhered to at all times. Scope Of Works: Plasterboard fixing (tacking)
Description Of Works:
1. Refer to site safety rules for information on signing in and starting work. Please advise site agent on arrival.
2. Carry out inspection of area before work commences to ensure surroundings are safe to work. Please ensure scaffold has been inspected and documented before use.
3. When plasterboarding ceilings a scaffold must be set using tressels and scaffold boards. Operatives must ensure the scaffold is safe for work.
4. Plasterboard should be cut to fit onto ceiling joints using a Stanley knife and tape measure, ensuring the edge of the plasterboard meets the middle of the ceiling joists.
5. Plasterboard should be carried onto the scaffold and lifted over the operative’s head in a safe manner so as not to cause injury. Plasterboard should be fixed with screws at the specified centres, i.e. at 150mm intervals.
6. When plasterboarding walls, plasterboard should be cut to fit using a Stanley knife and tape measure and should be fixed tightly to ceilings using a board lifter. Using a pad saw, holes should be cut for services and light fittings.
7. Operatives must make sure the skip provided is as close as possible to enable the disposal of all waste. 8. Once the unit has been completed operatives to carry out a visual inspection before leaving site, and the
site agent to be notified. Contractors, Supervision, and Monitoring:

Description Of Works:
1. Refer to site safety rules for information on signing in and starting work. Please advise site agent on arrival.
2. Carry out inspection of area before work commences to ensure surroundings are safe to work. Please ensure scaffold has been inspected and documented before use.
3. Check there is a water supply in the working area, or that clean water can be provided in water butts. 4. Bonding compound should be mixed with water in a well ventilated area and using a mechanical mixer.
Face masks are to be worn at all times during mixing. 5. Plasterboard should be cut to fit using a Stanley knife and tape measure. Using a pad saw, holes
should be cut for services and light fittings. 6. Before bonding compound is applied, plasterboard should be put into position, ensuring it fits correctly.
Bonding compound should then be applied to the wall using a hawk and trowel, ensuring there are continuous dabs at floor and ceiling lines and around services and window reveals.
7. Plasterboard should then be put in position, using a straight edge and level to ensure the board is upright and flat.
8. Operatives must make sure the skip provided is as close as possible to enable the disposal of all waste. 9. Once the unit has been completed operatives to carry out a visual inspection before leaving site, and the

ensure scaffold has been inspected and documented before use. 3. The metal will be cut to size and lifted onto the scaffold ensuring safe handling. 4. The timber will be fixed with metal screws or screw gun. 5. The plasterboard will be cut to fit. 6. Using a pad saw holes will be neatly cut for services and light fittings. 7. When plaster-boarding both sides of a metal stud wall the vertical joints will be offset by 400-600mm to give
added strength. 8. When the plasterboard is fixed it will be screwed at 150mm intervals. 9. When plaster-boarding the walls they are fixed tightly using a board lifter. 10. Operatives must make sure the skip provided is as close as possible to enable the disposal of all waste. 11. Description Of Works:

3. Check there is a water supply in the working area, or that clean water can be provided in water butts. 4. All joints are to be scrimmed or taped before jointing commences. All corner tapes and angle bead are
to be fixed in the correct manner. 5. Jointing materials should be mixed in a well-ventilated area using clean water. In less well-ventilated
areas a face-mask should be worn. 6. Joint cement should be applied to walls using appropriate tools. 7. Sufficient drying times allowed between each coat to create a smooth finish. 8. When jointing ceilings or high walls or stairwells operatives must ensure that appropriate scaffolding has
been provided and erected prior to commencing work. 9. The edges of the joints are to be sanded using a pole sander ready for decoration. A face mask must
be worn at all times. 10. Operatives must make sure the skip provided is as close as possible to enable the disposal of all waste. 11. Once the unit has been completed operatives to carry out a visual inspection before leaving site, and the

3. Operatives must ensure that appropriate scaffolding has been provided and erected prior to commencing work.
4. Check there is a water supply in the area, or that clean water can be provided in water butts. 5. Find a safe working space for mixing materials. 6. Materials should be mixed in a well ventilated area and using a mechanical mixer. Face masks are to
be worn at all times during mixing. 7. Render/plastering beads are to be fitted using appropriate fixings and ensuring they are kept level and
upright. 8. Using relevant tools, an 8mm scratch coat of render should be applied to the block work surface. 9. A top coat of render should then be applied using relevant tools and should be rubbed to a smooth
finish, allowing for appropriate drying times and taking into consideration weather conditions. 10. Plaster skim should be applied using two coats to give a 3-4mm overall coverage and should be
trowelled to a smooth finish. 11. Operatives must make sure the skip provided is as close as possible to enable the disposal of all waste. 12. Once the unit has been completed operatives to carry out a visual inspection before leaving site, and the

Operatives must check with the site agent the required level of the screed before work commences. 6. Ensure that the unit to be screeded is clean and that the floor is clear of any materials. 7. Any necessary floor insulation should be laid in accordance with site specifications and should include
reinforcements where needed. 8. Find a safe working space for mixing materials. 9. Materials should be mixed in a cement mixer or using a screed pump. 10. Screed should be transferred into a wheelbarrow for transportation from the mixer to the area to be
screeded or will be transferred to the area via screed pump. 11. Using a straight edge and level, screed should be laid to the level required, ensuring it is flat and level. 12. All equipment should be cleaned and a no entry sign should be erected at the entrance to the unit that

Scope Of Works: Fibreglassing and Celotex Description Of Works – 1. Refer to site safety rules for information on signing in and starting work. Site agent must be notified on
arrival. 2. Carry out inspection of area before work commences to ensure surroundings are safe to work. Please
ensure scaffold has been inspected and documented before use. 3. Celotex and fibreglass to be carried onto scaffold in a safe manner. 4. When carrying out the fitting of the celotex in between ceiling joists it must be as close fitting as possible
using saw, stanley knife and tape measure. 5. When carrying out the fitting of the celotex over the joists these must be cut as accurately as possible so
that the edges meet in the middle of the ceiling joist, using tape measure, stanley knife and saw. 6. Using a pad saw holes will be cut for services and light fittings. 7. When fitting the fibreglass the 1st layer must fit in between the joists and the 2nd layer must fit across the
joists. Attention must be paid to where you tread and stand When fitting in a loft access must always be kept clear, ensure sufficient lighting is available and safe access for loading.

1. Refer to site safety rules for information on signing in and starting work. Please advise site agent on arrival. 2. Carry out inspection of area before work commences to ensure surroundings are safe to work. 3. Ensure height of ceilings to be plastered is no greater than 3 metres. 4. Ensure work area is “Plaster Ready” as follows:
a. Floor surfaces are solid and level (eg concreted or lined) b. Floor surfaces are cleared, swept and dry. c. Lighting cables (from ceilings and walls) are secured. d. Electric leads (including those to working lights) are clear of the work area. e. Voids (eg stairwells) and windows which may be hazardous are guarded for stilt work. f. Floor penetrations (eg pipes) covered and/or highlighted. g. Plastering works are the only works underway in the immediate work area. h. Any other workers (besides workers assisting the stilt worker in their task) are excluded from the work
areas by barricading/ taping off.
5. Check that there is a suitable, rigid, mounting/dismounting platform available. 6. Check there is a suitable stand for stilt worker’s tools if no co-worker is available to pass tools to stilt worker 7. Wilkins & Dallas Method Statement Date: JANUARY 2016 The following method statements and risk assessments have been developed to provide a safe system of work and must be adhered to at all times. Scope Of Works: Working from a Platform of between 450-600mm NB: This method statement to be used in conjunction with each trade specific method statement Description Of Works: Plastering, Plasterboarding, Metal Work, Fibreglassing/Celotex
1. Refer to site safety rules for information on signing in and starting work. Please advise site agent on arrival.
2. Carry out inspection of area before work commences to ensure surroundings are safe to work. 3. Ensure work area is “Work Ready” as follows:
a. Floor surfaces are solid and level (eg concreted or lined) b. Floor surfaces are cleared, swept and dry. c. Lighting cables (from ceilings and walls) are secured. d. Electric leads (including those to working lights) are clear of the work area. e. Voids (eg stairwells) and windows which may be hazardous are guarded for platform work. f. Floor penetrations (eg pipes) covered and/or highlighted. g. No other trades are underway in the immediate work area. h. Any other workers (besides workers assisting platform worker) are excluded from the
immediate work areas by barricading/ taping off/signage.
4. Ensure platform is:
a. of sufficient dimensions to allow safe passage and safe use of equipment and materials, with a suitable mounting and dismounting step
b. free from trip hazards or gaps through which persons or materials could fall c. kept clean and tidy, e.g. do not allow debris and mortar to build up on platforms d. free from tools, which should be stored on a tool belt or suitable stand when not in use e. not loaded so as to give rise to a risk of collapse or to any deformation that could affect its safe
use f. erected on firm, level ground to ensure it remains stable during use
Contractors, Supervision, and Monitoring:
Regular site audits are carried out and documented Good standards of house-keeping must be adhered to at all times. Operator Training and Plant:
You must follow any site rules and comply with site inductions. All items of plant and tools will be inspected regularly and documented. All necessary training and documentation will be carried out. PPE, First Aid, Welfare, Fire and Emergency Procedures:
Safety glasses, ear protection, dust masks and gloves when needed. Safety boots, hi vis jackets and hard hats at all times The principal Contractor is responsible for providing safe access and egress to site adequate welfare facilities and maintaining them in a clean and wholesome manner. It is the responsibility of the main contractor to ensure adequate First Aid, Fire and emergency procedures are provided. Environmental Measures:
You must dispose of waste and spoil to the designated area or skip provided for waste Main Hazards:

You must be competent to carry out the task Barriers and warning signs must be placed around your work area You must follow any specific site rules and attend all site inductions/meetings as required. There will be netting and crash decking to ensure safety from falls where necessary Please follow risk assessments for manual handling
