3G is going to drive the market in India, coexisting with 4G in the coming years – Dr. Avneesh Agrawal, President, Qualcomm India & South Asia "Honestly, the market is very optimistic and I am quite impressed with the commitment operators are showing. In terms of 3G deployments, there were some initial issues everyone had on 3G but now there is a lot of emphasis on network quality. We have seen 3G smartphone prices come down heavily. And then tariff reduction has also happened as ell. Current trends are very positive and I firmly believe that demand for data is huge in w
India. We see 3G and 4G completely coexisting. 4G is great as it delivers great speed, which was ot ubiquitous. It needs a very strong underlay network of 3G. Also, global economies of nscale are dwarfing 3G and 4G. Both from coverage and price perspectives, 3G is going to drive the market in India. But 4G will be coming in and we believe it will coexist. You will see a lot of multimode devices. perators will offer 4G services whenever they have spectrum but for the next four to ive years, 3G will be mass market." Of
