Context
• The original Stretford Masterplan was agreed in 2014 to
revitalise the Town Centre
• Since then significant progress - including Stretford Public Hall being taken over and run by Friends of Stretford Public Hall Group and investment in public realm
• Many challenges remain, with around a third of shops being empty and the Essoldo remaining unused
• The announcement of a new higher education facility, University Academy ’92 in Stretford, provides an opportunity to increase the pace and level of investment
• Our aim is to ensure the local community benefits fully from this investment and economic growth

Stretford Town Centre
• Not clear what new town centre facilities will be provided.
• Too much focus on students.
• Proposed Lacy Street development is too tall/dense.
• Could other uses go on Lacy Street with student accommodation
on Talbot Road.
• The A56 remains a major barrier to pedestrians/cyclists
• Mature trees need to be protected.

• First on the wide range of potential development opportunities in the town centre, what they should offer and how spaces could be best used.
• Second focused on the proposals for student accommodation on the Lacy Street site and how this links to the wider opportunities for the town centre.
