Effective:September12,2017TheHigherLearningCommission(HLC)hasremovedadesignationof“UnderGovernmentalInvestigation”forDeVryUniversity,headquarteredinDownersGrove,Illinois.ThedesignationwasgiventotheUniversitybyHLCinMay2017basedonanactiveinvestigationbytheAttorneyGeneraloftheStateofMassachusettsregardingallegationsoffraudulentordeceptivepractices.DeVryUniversityhasrecentlynegotiatedasettlementwiththestateandvoluntarilyagreedtodiscontinuecertainpractices.DeVryUniversityremainsaccreditedbytheHigherLearningCommission.It’snextscheduledreaffirmationofaccreditationwithHLCisduringthe2019-20academicyear.AbouttheHigherLearningCommissionTheHigherLearningCommissionaccreditsapproximately1,000collegesanduniversitiesthathaveahomebaseinoneof19statesthatstretchfromWestVirginiatoArizona.HLCisaprivate,nonprofitaccreditingagency.ItisrecognizedbytheU.S.DepartmentofEducationandtheCouncilforHigherEducationAccreditation.Questions?Contactinfo@hlcommission.orgorcall312.263.0456.
