PROJECT DESCRIPTION
JAC-SR 279-10.13
PID 100887
It is proposed to replace the structure on SR 279 at the 10.13 mile mark in Jackson County, Ohio. The project is located in a rural area of Milton Township. The structure carries SR 279 over Jackson Lake.
The existing structure is a five span continuous reinforced concrete slab on capped pile abutments and piers. The new structure will be a 3 span continuous reinforced concrete slab on capped pile abutments and piers. The existing structure (SFN 4003098) has a sufficiency rating of 52.2 functionally obsolete (F.O.) and the general appraisal rating is 5. The structure was built in 1940.
The project will not require new right-of-way.
No homes or businesses will be removed by the project. According to US census data an underserved populations (low income population) is adjacent to the project area. The low income population will not be directly impacted by the project.
The project was surveyed for running buffalo clover on June 2, 2017. The survey determined that potentially suitable habitat for this species was not present within the project limits. All quads around the project area are impacted by mowing, herbicidal spraying and other recent disturbances. The project will have a No Effect on the running buffalo clover.
The funding for the project is 80% Federal and 20% State. The environmental commitment date is 9/7/2018. The project is currently expected to be awarded 7/1/2019. The road will be closed for the duration of the project.
