Your Scholarship ProgramOne of the many benefits of membership
in the State Employees Association of North Carolina is the association’s scholarship program. Active and associate members, their spouses and their dependent children are eligible to apply for scholarships to at-tend technical schools, community colleges, trade schools, junior colleges and four-year universities or colleges.*
Categories/CriteriaCategory I scholarships are awarded to
successful candidates based on criteria that include financial need, school and com-munity activities, character and motivation. Category II merit scholarships are awarded without consideration of financial need. Category III scholarships are for active and associate SEANC members who are work-ing full time and are enrolled in at least six semester hours of undergraduate work or three semester hours of graduate work at an accredited postsecondary institution.
How To ApplyApplications may be downloaded at the
SEANC website (seanc.org/scholarship). Applications must be received by the District Scholarship Chairperson postmarked NO LATER THAN April 15. Recommendations then are forwarded to the SEANC Scholarship Foundation Board before May 1 for final selection and notification of winners by July 1. The number and amounts of awards are determined each year by the SEANC Scholarship Foundation Board.
* Membership in teachers’ organizations or the State Employees’ Credit Union (SECU) does not constitute eligilibity for a SEANC Foundation scholarship. However, state and local government employees and retirees and state university system scholarship athletes are eligible to join if they so desire.
