BACHELOR, MASTER AND PhD PROGRAMS
SMTU proposes different formats of joint Bachelor and Master
educational programs for foreign partners:
1. Bachelor program in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering
1.1. Format (2+2 ): two years at partner university combined with
study of the Russian language plus a two years at SMTU. Double
diplomas
1.2. (3+1): three years at partner university combined with study of the
Russian language (including 2 years taught by local professors
and 1 year taught jointly by local and SMTU professors )plus one
final year at SMTU
2. Combined Master programs: (a) in Naval Architecture & Ocean
Engineering (b) in Ship Mechanical Sciences (1+1) format in the
English language Format (1+1).
3. PhD programs in many topics of ship sciences & technology (4 years)

2. BASICS OF ARCTIC SHIPBUILDING AND SHIPPING
9 parts: 1- Ice conditions in the Arctic and freezing seas; 2-Ice going properties of ships;3-Navigation in ice-covered waters; 4 – Requirements of the Russian Register of Shipping for Ice-
going ships; 5- Design of Arctic ships; 6- Peculiarities of construction and design of ice-breakers;
7-Special problems of construction; 8-Environmental issues of ship operation in the Arctic, 9 –
Special problems of construction, strength and sea-going properties of ice-class ships (concludinglecture). Total: 116 academic hours
3. LASER AND BEAM TECHNOLOGIES 4 parts: Laser welding, cutting and surface processing, 2- Laser-based additive manufacturing
technologies; 4- Modeling of laser processing technologies; Total: 132 academic hours
4. INTRODUCTION INTO SHIPBUILDING 5 parts: 1 – Design & construction of ships; 2 – Arrangement of modern ship for sea navigation, 3.
Power plants of ships and marine technique, 4 – Electrical equipment and automation systems, 5-

One Member Company Limited (HITACO) on realization of training of
students from Vietnam in the field of shipbuilding and ocean
engineering
