PLAZA DE ESPAÑA
La Plaza de España was called in ancient times “la Corralada”. It represents a typical Castillian square. “El Templete” is situated in the centre of the square where the bandstand is. Its origin is linked to the weekly market and dates from 1670. A very important characteristic of the square is that it is surrounded by arches, the same as in “La Plaza Mayor” of Salamanca.
LA FUNDACIÓN GERMÁN SÁNCHEZ RUIPÉREZ
• Germán Sánchez Ruipérez Foundation is an institution with no lucrative aim, recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Culture. It was founded in October, 1981.

The Centre for Social Development works on three major areas: library and reading, cultural and social formation and services related to expanding culture.
In the Centre for Social Development in Peñaranda, there is also a music school. Curiously, the library in Peñaranda has more library members than people living in the town.
The International Centre of New Technologies (CITA) wants to make IT a reality in the rural areas with the use of human resources, access to the information on the internet and the creation of technological services for education use, for continuous education and for culture.
