INFIELD Safety GmbH
Our Motto Our Motto: "Stick to doing the things you do best“
For many years - and true to its motto - INFIELD has resisted the temptation of providing any
further forms of PPE other than eyewear and hearing protection.
Our specialization makes us one of the most reliable and competent partners when it comes
to safety and eye care. Especially in the provision of prescription safety eyewear to those in
the workforce that require corrective lenses, INFIELD has been a market leader for many
years.
Our large team of opticians and professional staff guarantee our continuing success.
Whether over the phone or on site, our qualified colleagues are happy to help in a swift and
competent manner.
In consultation with the relevant authorizing officer within the prospective company, we will
seek to optimize the way in which your workforce acquires its prescription eyewear.
There are two ways in which to obtain prescription safety eyewear:
• An INFIELD representative calls on site to provide a comprehensive fitting service
• An optician in your area is appointed to provide service provision either on- or off- site
Both methods have proven to be successful in the last two decades. Which one to adopt as
best working practice depends very much on the employee requirements and the Company
requirements.
Routes to acquisition
All frames and lenses supplied by INFIELD are tested and certified to EN 166. Both lenses and
frame carry the required certification mark, indicating the level of permissible mechanical
stresses or protection afforded by each product. Lenses conform to Class 1 optical quality.
The selection of the appropriate lens and frame combination depends on certain criteria,
such as the conditions in the workplace, the potential & actual hazards to be protected
against, the facial anatomy of the wearer, not to mention the prescription required.
We manufacture our own optical lenses in-house; from raw, semi-finished blanks to the anti-
reflective coated finished lenses, all processes occur within our 21st century manufacturing
suite. We make sure that our customers always benefit from the latest developments in lens
technology, as only late generation lenses are used in our products.
Spectacle frames and lenses
The question of whether a plastic or a metal frame offers the best protection in a hazardous
environment cannot be answered in a generalized way. Our range of frames provides the
same fundamental protection of the orbital cavity (eye and socket) – whether plastic or
metal is chosen. An extensive selection of materials, shapes, colours and sizes is available. Our
qualified representatives will be happy to assist in your selection.

Visual pathway in the human eye
Age related farsightedness
• Technical term: Presbyopia
• Cause: From childhood onwards the elasticity of the lens decreases continually. This
causes the decline of the ability to focus on near and distant objects
(accommodation) throughout life.
• Effect: Near objects appear out of focus. Most people need reading glasses from the
age of 40 to 45
• Solution: Correction using a converging lens (+ dioptre)
Toric curvature of the cornea
• Technical term: Astigmatism
• Cause: The cornea is not spherical, the eye has different focal points in different planes
• Effect: Dots can appear as lines. Near and distant objects appear out of focus
• Solution: Correction using a toric lens
Visual pathway and astigmatism Abberations of the image
Focal point
Macula
Squinting
• Technical term: Strabismus
• Cause: Lack of coordination of the extraocular muscles.
The gaze of both eyes cannot get to the same point in space.
• Effect: Double vision
• Solution: Correction using prism lenses

Visual pathway under normal conditions Clear image of the entire object
Normal Eye
• Technical term: Emmetropia
• The object reflects the incidental light
• The reflected light enters the lens of the eye
• The lens converges the light to a focal point on the retina as an inverted image
• The focal point of the eye coincides with the area of clearest perception (macula)
• The image appears inverted on the retina and is passed along the optic nerve to the brain
• In the brain this image is 'rotated' and all details are perceived upright and in focus

Shortsightedness
• Technical term: Myopia
• Cause: The eyeball is too long or the refractive power of the lens is too low
The focal point is in front of the retina and the area of clearest vision (macula)

Useful information about safety lenses
There are three major lens types:
• Single vision lenses
For the correction of myopia and hypermetropia
• Bifocal lenses
For the simultaneous correction of myopia and prespyopia. Disadvantage:
The vision at distances between 40cm and 100cm is out of focus.
• Varifocal lenses
For the simultaneous correction of myopia and prespyopia. In contrast to bifocal lenses,
there is a smooth gradient between the areas of near and distant vision.
In the majority of cases, the appropriate lens type for protective glasses is the same as for the
client's personal glasses. The same is true for the lens prescription: it should be the same for both
protective and personal glasses.

Useful information about safety lenses
The thickness of lenses increases with their strength, around the edges for diverging lenses and
in the centre for converging lenses. For lenses of +/- 3.75 dioptres or more it is recommended
to use materials with a higher refractive index. These materials have higher refractive capacity
due to a higher optical density than standard materials. Hence the maximum thickness of the
finished lens around the edges or in the centre is much reduced. Apart from the enhanced
aesthetics, the reduced weight of the glasses (by up to 30%) is a great advantage. The higher the
refractive index, the thinner the lenses.

Tradition combined with new free form technology
The new INFOR lenses by Infield are the result of a combination of traditional manufacturing and
state-of-the-art production technology, the free form.
Manufacturing
For traditionally manufactured eyeglasses, semi-finished goods (so-called blanks) in graduated
external contours are used - from completely flat (strong minus lenses) all the way to severely
convex (strong plus lenses). In traditional manufacturing, an even standard inner side curve
is manufactured on the backside - the inner side of the eyeglasses – to achieve the desired
strength of the eyeglass. Thanks to the new free form, we are now replacing the standard rear
surface that is computed individually depending on the strength of the lens and the exterior
curve chosen. This takes place with the help of our company group's own, patent pending eye-
point ray tracing program.
Eye-point ray tracing
With the help of the eye-point ray tracing program,
images of an eyeglass from the eye's point of view
are computed at close to 3000 spots. Imaging
errors in the eyeglass caused by diagonally
hitting rays of light are determined.
The results have a direct impact on
the manufacturing and effect an
optimisation of the imaging properties.

The revolution for wearers of glasses:
2in1
The anti-fog coating of the OPTIFOG eyeglasses in combination with the OPTIFOG Activator
guarantees seeing clearly without fogged up eyeglasses – up to one week after each activation.
In addition, OPTIFOG lenses are dust-repellent, scratch-resistant and easy to clean.
Infield embarks on a new path with the innovative combination of OPTIFOG lenses and
OPTIFOG Activator: Wearers of glasses receive a highly effective and durable anti-fog coa-
ting without image distortion or loss of contrast – a true innovation. To date, it seemed
impossible to develop an effective anti-fog solution for coated lenses.
Every wearer of glasses is familiar with the problems caused by light reflexes due to unfavourable
Lighting or sunlight, as well as with fogged lenses in the case of rapid temperature changes, e. g.
when switching between cold and heated work areas. Until now, wearers of plastic lenses had to
decide whether to get an anti-reflective or and anti-fog coating! With the new OPTIFOG lenses,
INFIELD is now offering the perfect solution. With their special surface, they effectively reduce
light reflection and additionally preventing the annoying fogging of the lens.

A physical vapour deposition plant produces a high vacuum of 2.0x10-3 Pascal. Then up to 8
different vapourised materials, mostly metal oxides and silicon dioxide, are deposited in thin
layers on both lens surfaces. The layer thickness is in the nanometer range and has a tolerance
of only 1%.

Useful information about safety lensesUseful information about safety lenses
Earpieces with metal coreThe heavier a pair of spectacles, the more important it is to achieve optimum anato-mic adjustability for a perfect fit. Safety spectacles with lenses made from toughened glass or prescription lenses are considerably heavier than other models. Earpieces with a metal core can be adjusted perfectly to ensure a non-slip and pressure-free fit.
SoftflexThe Softflex loop absorbs the impact of the side arms and relieves pressure points behind the ear. The skin-friendly material and anatomic adjustability also provide a non-slip fit of the frame.
The anatomy of people is highly individual.
INFIELD prescription safety glasses allow for
this individuality with multiple adjustments
available to their frames. Every INFIELD frame
can be adjusted to the required shape to avoid
uncomfortable pressure points behind the ears.
To order prescription frames we supply a standardised order form for your convenience. In addi-
tion to general information we require the following details from you:
• Lens type
• Lens type and coating
• Frame type with colour and size
• Your choice of case
• Lens prescription*
• Pupil distance**
• Segment height/pupillary height***
* This information should be taken from the existing prescription. The prescription of safety and personal glasses
should be identical to avoid the need for adaptation.
** Must be determined if it is not obvious from the presciption.
*** Must be determined, varies with different frame and lens sizes
Ordering
A mirror reflects up to 96% of visible light which is the reason we can see an image of ourselves
in it. Even though lenses are transparent, they still reflect up to 8% of incoming light at both
the outer and the inner surfaces. This results in irritating reflections which can lead to eye strain.
Anti-reflective coatings can increase the light permeability of the lens to up to 99%, eliminating
irritations to the eyes.
Physical background of anti-reflective coatings:
The concept to reduce reflection on lens surfaces is based on interference of light waves. An
incoming wave is cancelled if it is reflected from a surface with the exact opposite in amplitude.
This is always the case, if the coating has a smaller refractive index than the lens material.
Side armsThe side arms can be adjusted in length by pulling the earpieces from the base
setting to achieve optimal comfort for the user.

INFIELD customised hearing protection – Perfection for your senses INFIELD customised hearing protection offers you many advantages
Customised hearing protection
Examples of noise levels in decibel
Reasons for rejection of hearing protection
Are you familiar with INFIELD hearing protection?
Our hearing is always active – even whilst sleeping. Receiving and
processing sound.
The adverse effects on health caused by excessive noise are often under-
estimated and noise induced hearing loss is irreversible!
The medical profession recognises 85dB (Decibel) as the threshold for
hearing damage, 120-130dB as the pain barrier – this equates to a jet plane
at take-off at 100m distance. The background noise in houses is typically
40-50dB, in offices 65dB. Traffic noise can easily amount to 85dB, rock
concerts and night clubs at 110dB are often louder than jackhammers
giving off 100dB.
An increase of 3dB doubles the charge on the ears. In the workplace the
noise level at which hearing protection must be worn is legislated.
But often the provided equipment isn’t worn by workers, because it is
uncormfortable, makes communication almost impossible which results in
feelings of isolation. Many people complain about headaches, pressure
points or excessive sweating.
All these disadvantages can be eliminated with INFIELD customised hearing
protection. Individual fitting provides maximum comfort! It reduces noise
levels without isolating the user acoustically from his surroundings. Long life
makes INFIELD hearing protection a very economic choice.
Get more information on our web-site: www.infield-safety.de
Fitting
Our representatives conduct the fitting of personal hearing protection
on-site.
Material
The standard material for all our models is silicone, which provides
good mechanical and chemical resistance combined with a long life
span. The soft, flexible material causes no pressure points in the ear
canal, even with prolonged wearing. The basic standard issue of the ear
plugs is transparent silicone. The Phonor ® Select Digital is available in
UVLichtpolymerisat material. On request ear plugs can also be supplied
in a range of signal colours like red, blue or yellow.
Special models
All models can be fitted with a tiny metal ball (detection ball). These
specialised models are mainly of interest to the food and chemical
industries.
By default, the cord with shirt clip is delivered in green. It is also available
with a signal effect (neon-orange), or made of non-flammable material
(yellow), or as a detectable metal cord (black), or as an elasticated cord.
The shirt clip is also detectable.
Advantages of INFIELD's ear plugs
• Customised for perfect fit
• Optimum protection
• Communication is retained
• Filters are individually adjusted to the environment
• Important sounds and signals can still be heard
• Ideal comfort, hardly noticeable
• High user acceptance
• Easy to wear with safety helmets
• Almost invisible
• Easy to use
• Easy to clean
• Many areas of application. For example Metalworking, Automotive,
Printing, Airports, Chemical, Sawmill, Bottling, Manufacturing and
