To Know Christ And Make Him Known To All
Theme for 2018: To receive endurance and
encouragement from God as the Holy Spirit unifies
us to follow Christ Jesus.
Romans 15:5 "May the God who gives endurance
and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among
yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus"
“ I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and
that your joy may be complete.” John 15:11
In the middle of Jesus’ talk about loving the Father by keeping His commands, and reminders that loving each other is what God calls us to, nestles this little verse. It answers the question, “Why?”
I do not know if most kids go through a “why-phase”. I know I did and I know my siblings did. Of
course, that could have been a way we learned to get under our parents’ skin. Why? Why? Why? Until at last came the replies, “Because I said so,” or “Because it just is.”
Jesus did not even make us ask. He told us why. Not to please
himself. Not to impress the Father. Not to assist the Spirit. No, it is so we can share in Jesus’ joy, and not just a little bit.
But for our complete joy.
~Pastor Barbey

CONGREGATIONAL ASSEMBLY
Our annual congregational assembly meeting is coming up next Sunday, June 24th. Lunch will be served at 11:30am and then the meeting will begin at 12:30pm.
There will be lots of great information to report on, action items to consider, and things to discuss. A draft copy of the
agenda can be found by clicking here.
There are a few things to highlight that you should look at and prayerfully consider ahead of next week’s meeting:
First - the annual budget for the next year, as approved by Council last month. A copy can be found by clicking here.
Second - the Facilities Task Force is ready to present their recommendations for improvements to the Family Life Center. These improvements are focused on the current needs of the space, regarding sound, lighting and the cur-rent projection system we have alongside some aesthetic enhancements to the space. There will be a presentation
and initial discussion about the recommendations at the meeting next week.
Third - there are elections for Council positions. This year, we will be electing a Secretary, Treasurer, Head Elder and three At-Large Council persons for two-year terms. Listed below are the people who have been nominated for the
various positions thus far. Please pray for them and for the year ahead as we prepare to choose lay leaders.
Finally, we will get all of this information finalized next week, including a final agenda, budget summary, any other names for nominations for council positions and any other relevant or needed information to prepare for the meeting.
Don’t hesitate to let us know if you have questions, concerns, or other thoughts. You can always contact one of your
lay leaders or someone in the church office.
Blessings on your weekend,
