CourseDescription

The course is of a practical nature, workshop based and provides many skillswhich are appropriate to awide range of applications. The coursewill developskillsinmarkingout,cutting,shapingandfinishingwoodaswellasadjustingandmaintaining a range of hand tools. Apart from giving an insight into industrialpracticeandstandards,suchstudieshelpwiththedevelopmentofsafepracticeina workshop environment, self-confidence, manual dexterity and control,perseveranceandspatialawareness.

• CarcaseConstruction

• MachiningandFinishing

AssessmentEachunitwillbeassessedindividuallyandstudentsmustbesuccessfulineachunitassessmenttopassthecourse.InadditionForNational5candidatesthereisalsoafinalcourseassessmentorAddedValueUnitwhichmustalsobepassedtocompletethecourse.

The majority of the learning on this course takes place practically, howeveroccasional lessons will be required in the classroom to all for a deeperunderstanding.
