and to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High.” Psalm 92:1
WELCOME: A sincere welcome is extended to everyone who
worships here today. As we reflect this week on the goodness
and blessings of God upon our lives, may this day and this
week be used to strengthen our resolve to live more faithfully
and thankfully for Him in days to come. We invite you to join
us in the Fellowship Hall following our morning service for
refreshments and fellowship.
Children aged 3-5 meet your teacher in the foyer during the
offering this morning for Children’s Church.
Today at 2:30 PM, Care Center Devotions will be provided by
Devotion Group #6. If you are in this group, you will have
instructions in your church mailbox.
ABOUT OUR MESSAGES
This morning our series in Acts, "King on a Mission," moves
to Acts 6:8-15, where Stephen becomes the focus of Jewish
leaders intent on stopping Jesus and His mission. Their
charges reveal a fundamental difference between true religion
and empty religion, and leads us to wonder whether or not we
also are "Misrepresenting Jesus."
This evening, our journey through the Heidelberg Catechism
moves to its final section, dealing with the topic of prayer. Our
catechism calls prayer the most important part of gratitude,
and so Pastor Drew will be reading a sermon displaying what
happens when grumbling replaces gratitude. The gracious
response of God is found in the "Rock of Ages."
PRAYERS AND PRAISES
Please continue to pray for Tony & Rozella Baan Hofman as
they settle into their new living arrangements. Their new
address: Inn on Westport, Rm #313, 4000 S. Westport Ave,
Sioux Falls, SD 57106
Please be in prayer for many in our church family dealing with
the grief of loss.
Pray for the family of Darrell Kuipers, who died
Wednesday morning after a fight with cancer. Funeral
services were yesterday morning. Please lift up Gretchen
and his entire family to the God of all comfort.
Pray also for the family of Janet DeJong, who
died Tuesday morning in Sioux Falls. Visitation will be this
afternoon at Mount Funeral Home from 3 to 5 PM with a
prayer service to follow. Tomorrow morning, her funeral
service will be here at church at 10:30 AM.
We grieve together in this time of loss while looking to the
hope of Jesus Christ, who is the resurrection and the life.
Thank you so much for the care package and your prayers! It is always nice
to receive a package in the mail! Thanks again! ~Ashley Hansum
