Philadelphia CyberKnife is a service of Delaware County Memorial Hospital, a member of the Crozer-‐Keystone Health System.
What is CyberKnife? The world’s only roboHc radiosurgery system, CyberKnife treats paHents with a procedure called stereotac(c radiosurgery. StereotacHc radiosurgery is a noninvasive method of treaHng tumors with high-‐dose radiaHon precisely aimed from different angles.
How does CyberKnife work?
CyberKnife does not require surgery and there is no cu7ng or anesthesia required. Comprised of a compact linear accelerator -‐ a machine that generates a radiaHon beam -‐ aRached to a highly maneuverable roboHc arm. • The machine’s roboHc arm moves around you, aiming and
firing targeted radiaHon beams from numerous angles. • The imaging and tracking system conHnually updates the
tumor locaHon throughout the treatment procedure, compensaHng for paHent movements like breathing.
• Treatment sessions typically last 30 -‐ 60 minutes.

Why Choose CyberKnife?
• Treats paHents in as few as one to five visits • Pain free and requires no anesthesia • Minimal side effects • OutpaHent procedure • Constantly corrects for tumor or paHent movement
throughout procedures
• Reaches most tumors from virtually unlimited direcHons with roboHc mobility
• Minimizes radiaHon exposure to healthy Hssue surrounding a tumor site
• Lesions previously treated with maximum allowed radiaHon doses may be treated

The advanced tracking system takes x-‐ray
images to ensure the radiaHon beam
remains locked on the tumor
If needed, the paHent returns for
up to 4 more treatments.

Our Center Philadelphia CyberKnife established the first CyberKnife program in the greater Philadelphia area. One of the most prolific invesHgators in the history of radiaHon oncology, Medical Director Dr. Luther Brady has over 600 publicaHons to his credit, including papers on tumors of the eye and orbit, a subject on which he is considered a world authority, to the more common cancers of the lung. He has received countless honors, medals and awards throughout his disHnguished career. In addiHon, several members of the center’s team of prolific researchers regularly present clinical research findings at internaHonal oncology conferences. Our paHents come from throughout the eastern United States, as well as numerous countries around the world, including England, India and Malaysia.

The US Radiosurgery Network
In partnership with Delaware County Memorial Hospital, Philadelphia CyberKnife is a US Radiosurgery facility. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, US Radiosurgery is a division of Alliance Oncology and partners with hospitals and physician groups around the U.S. to develop and operate full-‐body radiosurgical centers. Collec(vely, the US Radiosurgery network of centers has treated thousands of pa(ents since the opening of the company’s first center in 2003. The group of faciliHes is acHvely engaged in research, with physicians regularly presenHng papers and authoring arHcles related to the efficacy of CyberKnife treatment for various types of tumors and lesions. Tumors of the lung, brain and prostate, as well as certain funcHonal disorders such as trigeminal neuralgia, have become key treatment areas throughout the network of centers.
