Objective:

Think about this question – what is development?
How could development be measured?
So what does development mean?

Some meanings..• Birth Rate meansthe number of live births per thousand of population
per yearFor the UK the number is 12This means that for every 1000 people in the UK 12 are born every yearThe population of the UK is 70 million70 million divided by 1000 = 70,000So, the actual number of births in the UK is 70,000 x 12 = 840,000
• Death Ratethe number of deaths per one thousand people per
year.
Meaning what?..the demographic transition (population change)
