Enjoy The Sounds of Saturday’s Music“East Coast Rhythm
and Blues Band”From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Main Stage, DowntownThe East Coast Rhythm and Blues Band will perform a variety of
music immediately following the parade on Saturday. The group is fresh off performances at the Crepe Myrtle Festival in Scotland Neck and the Tar River Festival in Louisburg.
Many find it amazing that the eight musical artists who make up the band have been together for just months instead of years. They skill-fully cover a variety of songs from beach to blues, Motown and R&B, to classic rock and country.
Based in southern Nash County, East Coast Rhythm and Blues Band showcases the vocal talents of Rex Jones of Stanhope, Sharon Hackney of Hobgood, and lead guitarist Tony Monts de Oca of Spring Hope. Also in the musical mix are drummer Kim Jones from White Oak, bassist Donald Dupree of Wilson, saxophonist Mike Davis of Bailey, rhythm guitarist and trumpeter Bennett Manning of Spring Hope, and Spring Hope’s Greg Thompson on piano and keyboards. Soundman Adam Monts de Oca puts it all together.
Road Runner D.J. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Once again, for the 11th year in a row, “Road Runner” Joe Harper will be spinning discs for your danc-ing pleasure at the Pumpkin Festival this year. He is a local disc jock-ey who resides at Lake Royal. He will be get-ting you in the mood before the parade and later after the parade at the Main Street Dance.
Through the year he has brought entertainment to people by supplying them with music
and dance from his side job of “Road Runner Music Service” DeeJay and
Dance Instruc-tor. He has preformed all over North Carolina at festivals and clubs with his dance teams and music.
He cur-rently dances at the Nash-ville Senior Citizens Cen-ter two days a week.
So, put on your dancing
shoes and get ready for a fun day at this year’s Pumpkin Festival.

Welcome to the Spring Hope National Pumpkin Festival!
Also SaturdayJerry Harrison and “Faith”
From 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.Main Stage, Downtown
Jerry Harrison and his gospel group, “Faith,” will be performing their favorite “old timey Gospel songs” on Saturday morning for 45 minutes.
Harrison has been singing since he ws 13 years old, mostly in church, and for the last 10 years he and his group have performed, among other places, in the Down East Festival and at Castalia on the Fourth of July.
Harrison plays a washboard and is sometimes referred to as the “Washboard Man.” Harrison has cut two CD’s and is working on a
video. We look forward to Jerry Harrison and “Faith” bringing us some spirited selections.
Walking tall on SaturdayStreet performer Charles Meacomes will be in Spring Hope Saturday as
“Jingles” the clown. Starting at 11 a.m. he will be strolling throughout the downtown performing balloon art and street magic, and then he will join the 2 p.m. festival parade on his stilts. Whether you look high or low for Jingles, you’re sure to find him at the Pumpkin Festival.
But also don’t forget this weekend to enjoy the bouncy Kid’s Zone, the three pumpkin-related contests, the carnival, the crafts show, the day-long musical entertainment, and all the wonderful variety of delicious foods that make festivals and fairs truly special. Have a great time in Spring Hope!
