This is a framework of suggested activities across the curriculum. There is a balance and breadth across the various areas of learning.
A weekly timetable is suggested to promote routine.
It uses general practices to promote commonality of learning to make life as easy as is possible under the present circumstances.
The maths programme may be tailored to the child's needs - go up a level if necessary or down a level if reinforcement needed. Every child should be able to find
appropriate activities to suit her/him. Online homework is not available but the associated practice sets may be used. There is a wealth of material on mymaths
and White Rose to ensure progression and continuity.
Given pressure for computer use in the family home, activities are designed to be staggered as much as possible in the case of Numeracy (White Rose activities
can be downloaded and printed) but collaborative in other areas. This means that apart from Numeracy, children may study the same subjects and can work
together.
Children should be encouraged to practise 'each one teach one' - older children help younger ones in craft activities as well as table activities, spellings, shared or
guided reading. Older children should be encouraged to view themselves as 'educators' and mentors as appropriate - 'by teaching, we learn'
An attempt has been made to keep the activities as practical as possible using resources like junk materials and everyday materials: an exercise book/paper and
ordinary stationery is all that is needed.
The plan is designed to be flexible to enable families to take full advantage of the changing seasons, weather and holidays.
Outdoor learning is encouraged as much as is possible given that everyone has different circumstances. There is a focus on the local environment , flora, fauna.
YouTube and Pinterest are recommended for make and do instructions and ideas but it must be stressed that adult supervision will be necessary to monitor the
child's use of these aids.

Own choice activities
This is a broad guide to shaping your school day; routines are good for promoting discipline and independence in learning. Of course, the break down is a guide
only and may be adapted to suit individual needs; every family's circumstances will be different.
Most of the core learning should take place in the morning.
Afternoons are best suited to areas of the curriculum other than Numeracy and Literacy but by necessity there will be some overlap in subject areas.
No end time is recorded on the timetable as some activities will be completed quickly, others are more open-ended.
If an activity is going well and children are absorbed in it, then run with it and make up other subjects at another time.
It will be useful to print out the weekly plans and highlight the activities as they are completed.
Get outdoors as much as is possible, build dens, notice the world around, encourage questions, intersperse sedentary activities with physical ones, skip, time runs,
do a daily mile, set personal bests etc.
