NTNU and LMS
• Learning Management System
• NTNU started LMS project in 2001
• The project group should select and implement an e-learning system for NTNU
• Entered an agreement with it’s learning january 2003

• 26 000 users at NTNU in 2007• 8235 users online last 24 hours• 15071 users online last week• 18152 users online last month

• With the system for administration of studies (FS)• With NTNU’s user database (BDB)• Single Sign on with NTNU’s student portal (innsida)

Training
• Training plan spring and summer 2003
• Posted flyers with information of the courses to all employees at NTNU

• Participants was followed up by the course supervisors when they had completed the course
• “We can come to your office for further help if you need”
• And we did….

Availability
• The Project group placed emphasize on availability
– to the system by intergrating with other systems
– to the project members and other support persons
– to the user support (Used the excisting user supprt service “orakeltjenesten” at NTNU)

Training
• 300 employees attended to a 2 hours hands-on course in it’s learning
• Different courses:– introduction to it’s learning
– Communication and interaction in it’s learning (more extensive courses)
– Custom-built courses (for more than three participants)

• After the training program was ended we performed a evaluation:
– 71 % of the participants to the courses said that they were going to make use of it`s learning in their teaching in the next semester!
– The evaluation indicates that the training program was an imortant part of the implementation process

• Custom built courses• Roughly 800 employees have attended a course

Implementation: Organizing today• The responsibility is placed within the Student and
Academic division. The coordinator is located at the Multimedia centre: www.ntnu.no/multimedie
• The rest of the organization is involved in various projects.

Implementation: Organizing• Orakeltjenesten first-line support• IT-department, involved in integration with the NTNU
intranett and transmission of data from FS and BDB at NTNU
• Program for Teacher Education contribute with educational/didactic support when we need
• We wish to involve numerous units at NTNU for a better sense of belonging to the organisation
