Principle of Operation:
• Non Mixing Liquids separate based on their Density difference under gravity.
• Rate of separation is dependent on the residence time provided and on the laminar nature of the flow.
• Lower Density liquid floats on the top.• Higher density liquid settles down at the bottom.
Desorber Needs and advantages:
Needs:• Two different liquids to be separated.• Separation of two liquids to be continuous.
Advantages:• Simple, easy and cost effective.• Best alternative to conventional skimmers like Belt/ Disc and
Rope skimmers which require settling tanks.• Gravity operated and hence no electricity required.• Mobile unit: A single unit can be used for a variety of
applications.• No restriction on type of liquid used.• Used for all applications involving separation of two non
miscible liquids with specific density difference.
Comparison between Skimmer and Desorber:
Conventional Skimmer Desorber
Time Consuming Faster Oil separation
Lot of residence time in skimming tank required
No Skimming tank required
Most skimmers offered requires oil to come near the belt for effective oil removal and dependent on the skimming tank size
No such prerequisite condition
Electricity is a must to run the skimmer
Gravity fed
Space required is more because of skimming tank
Skimming tank not required hence compact
Efficiency is highly dependent on the belt/ disc/ rope and any defect in the above will result in poor performance
Oil removal is not dependent on the contact parts of the Desorber.
Most skimmers are imported and spare/ service availability is worrisome
Designed, Manufactured and serviced by us and all parts are indigenous.
