FCC Forrest City is the first FederalPrison in the State of Arkansas.The Federal Correctional Complexhouses male offenders committedby United States District Courts andis comprised of the followingfacilities: The Minimum and Lowsecurity level facility is currentlyhousing 2000 male offenders. Themedium security level facility wasactivated in 2004 and is currentlyhousing 1800 male offenders.
The Federal Correctional Complex ForrestCity is located 45 miles west of Memphis,Tennessee; 89 miles east of Little Rock,Arkansas; and 55 miles south ofJonesboro, Arkansas. Set on the westernedge of Crowley's Ridge, Forrest City,dubbed "Jewel of the Delta", gives you thebest of two worlds. On one hand there's afriendly, small town atmosphere and lowcost of living. On the other hand you haveeasy access to the cosmopolitan offeringsof nearby Memphis, Little Rock, andJonesboro. Forrest City is the largest of tenmunicipalities of St. Francis County locatedin North East Arkansas. St. Francis Countywas originally recognized by the ArkansasTerritorial Legislature in October 1827. Thecounty was named after the St. FrancisRiver, a major Route for pioneer traffic.Forrest City was founded in 1866 when therailroad from Memphis to Little Rock wascut through Crowley's Ridge. CherokeeIndians lived on Crowley's Ridge beside aclear stream known as Village Creek. Thearea where the Indians settled is now thelargest state park in Arkansas, VillageCreek State Park. Outdoor recreationopportunities are superb with excellentfishing, hunting, camping, boating andgolfing. If you want a break from small-townlife, Memphis, Little Rock and Jonesboroare close by with fine dining, worldrenowned Bar-B-Q, opera, symphony, livetheater, museums and zoos. Qualifications:The largest percentage of ourstaff are Correctional Officersand to qualify for this positionyou must have completed atleast one of the following: A full4 year course of study in anyfield leading to a Bachelor'sDegree by an accreditedinstitution, a Bachelor's Degree,or the equivalent of at least 3years of full time generalexperience performing dutiessuch as guidance, counseling,emergency response,supervising, management,teaching, or sales. Pertinentvolunteer experience is alsoacceptable.
At the time of appointmeniapplicants must not havereached their 37th birthday. Theage requirement can be waivedfor Veterans, Psychologists,Chaplains, and most medicalpositions.
Salary:Salaries are based on theposition and location of the jobyou arc selected to fill. The LawEnforcement Special SalaryRate and Locality pay scale mayvary from the General Scheduleand Locality pay scale.
Leave:All full time employees earn 13days of sick leave per year.There are also 10 paid FederalGovernment holidays eachcalendar year. Vacation orAnnual Leave is earned inincrements of 4, 6, or 8 hoursper two week pay period basedon the number of years ofFederal service.
Insurance:There are a variety of healthinsurance options available toFederal employees and theGovernment pays anywherefrom 60 to 72 percent of the cost
depending on the health planyou select, A basic lifeinsurance plan is automatic andis effective for new employeeson day one. There are optionallife insurance policies that arealso available for purchase.
Retirement:An employee may retire at theage of 50 after 20 years ofservice or at any age after 25years of service.
Thrift Savings Plan:The purpose of TSP is toprovide retirement income. TSPoffers Federal civilianemployees the same type ofsavings and tax benefits thatmany private corporations offertheir employees under "40IK"plans.
