Causes
There is no single cause for OCPD Theories suggest the person may have had parents
who were overly protective or controlling Theses traits may have developed as a way of avoiding
punishment, in an effort to be “perfect” or “obedient” Genetics may also have an influence, but this isn’t
proven Cultural factors may also play a role: strict societies or
religions

Treatments Psychotherapy- the goal of this is to lessen high
expectations and teach the person to value relationships and fun.
Medicine- serotonin reuptake inhibitors are used in addition to psychotherapy, by helping the person be less focused on minor details and decrease rigidity
Relaxation- breathing and relaxation may help reduce anxiety and the sense of urgency associated with OCPD
