Lennox Children’s Cancer
Fund aims to make a
positive difference to the
lives of children suffering
from cancer or leukaemia,
and to support their
families through the
dreadful experience too.
These aims are achieved
through two key projects:
Respite Breaks
Lennox owns two holiday
homes, one near the New
Forest in Hampshire and one
on Mersea Island in Essex.
These are used to help
families in desperate need
of some quality time away
from doctors hospitals and
treatment. Holidays make
families stronger, healthier,
happier and leave them
feeling refreshed and ready
to take on the challenges
ahead of them.
Care Grants
It is very common for one
or both parents to be
forced to give up work to
care for their sick child and
the additional expenses
that are incurred after
diagnosis (such as hospital
travel and parking costs)
can often leave families
struggling financially.
Care Grants are given to
families in need of support
allowing them to focus their
attention where it is most
needed - on their child.

SENSORY GARDEN FOR MIA Seven year old Mia was the
main focus of our spring
campaign to build a sensory
garden at her home.
In June 2011, Mia was diagnosed
with a low grade glioma of the
optic chiasm and hypothalamus,
which is a type of brain tumour.
The tumour, which was the size
of a tangerine, started to show
itself as a squint when Mia was
just a toddler but it took
doctors two years to find the
lump and set about removing
it. Mia underwent 18 months
of chemotherapy, two blood
transfusions and nine hours of
surgery to save her eyesight, all
before her seventh birthday. The
tumour was pressing on her
optic nerve so although 30% of
the tumour was successfully
removed the surgery also
left Mia completely blind. The
battle to keep her tumour stable
is still ongoing.
Mia enjoys a normal education
at a school for visually impaired
students where she reads
Braille. When at home, she
enjoys playing in the
garden with her two
year old sister, Ruby.
Lennox is raising
money to create a
sensory garden for
the girls to play
together outside in a
safe and accessible
environment.
The sensory garden
will contain various
features such as
scented flowers, gravels and
turfs with different textures,
wind chimes and other outdoor
instruments, herbs and spices,
and a pump powered water
feature with safe and easy
access for Mia to hear and feel
the water.

PLAY TIME FOR OLIVER AND HIS BROTHERS Oliver was diagnosed in March
2012 with Acute Lymphoblastic
Leukaemia. Before he could
undergo treatment, he had to be
put into intensive care because
his kidneys were failing. Oliver’s
mum, Rebecca, said “It is the
most devastating news any
family can take in. It felt like
our world had ended”
Oliver is now receiving
aggressive chemotherapy, which
he will continue with until June
2015. He also receives oral
chemotherapy daily and lumbar
punctures every three months
at Addenbrook’s Hospital
in Cambridge.
The cheeky seven year old has
one older brother, Phoenix, and
a twin, Mackenzie. All three boys
love playing outdoors but their
garden is on a very steep slope.
Lennox has pledged to raise
enough funds to build a flat patio
area for the whole family to sit
outside together. If enough
funds are raised, we would also
like to surprise Oliver by granting
his biggest ask and getting him
and his brothers a trampoline
with an enclosure for the garden. Oliver with his twin, Mackenzie

NOTICES We are pleased to announce that the charity’s head office has relocated to Suite D, 7-13 High Street,
Romford, Essex RM1 1JU. The move marks a new era for Lennox as we strive to reduce the day-to-day
administration costs so that we can increase the number of families we support in 2013 and 2014.
Please be aware that Lennox Children's Cancer Fund is NOT working in conjunction with Alec's Angels
and they are NOT raising money for us. Alec’s Angels do not have permission to fundraise on our behalf
so if you have been approached by Alec’s Angels and given any information about Lennox, we hope that
you will take the time to visit our website, www.lennoxccf.org.uk, and understand the facts.
