things, immeasurable things, things greater than we

us. Ephesians 3:20 (The Voice)

GREATER PROMISES!
There has been a lot of rain of late.
Sometimes it also rains hard in our
lives.
I overheard someone last week say the
phrase 'When it rains, it pours' - as
they rolled their eyes. I am not sure
of exactly what they were referring to,
but I have heard it said many times.
We all experience the ‘rain’ in life.
The days that are cold, wet, miserable
and uncomfortable. But I am
conscious of all the times, when
somewhere in the midst of the rain or
just after, I have seen a beautiful
rainbow appear. The rainbow,
carefully hand painted in the sky by
our AMAZING, merciful and faithful
God. The rainbow, carefully hand
painted by our Creator God as a
permanent reminder, through all
generations, that God is a God who
keeps His promises. This is a
reminder that God kept His promise to
one man, a promise made for all
mankind. The rainbow, a reminder,
that God is faithful.
In a world of broken promises, in a
world where it often rains, and
sometimes pours, you can be
reminded that God will keep His
promise to you. I love to read the
different promises in the Bible that
God has made to one person or
another. Promises we can claim and
stand on ourselves. These promises
bring us hope for the greater things
that are to come, hope in a God whose
heart is for us, not against us.
Promises such as: 'The peace of God
is much greater than the human mind
can understand. This peace will guard
your hearts and minds through Christ
Jesus' (Phil 4:7), 'Your faith has saved
you from the punishment of sin'.
(Luke 7:50), 'He lifts those in need
out of their troubles' (Psalm 107:41),
'Peace I leave with you, my peace I
give to you. I do not give peace to
you as the world gives. Do not let
your hearts be troubled or afraid'
(John 14:27), 'Walk in all the ways
the Lord your God has told you. Then
you may live, it may be well with you,
and you may live a long time in the
land that will belong to you.' (Deut
5:33), 'Even when you are old I will
be the same. And even when your
hair turns white, I will help you. I
will take care of what I have made. I
will carry you and save you.' (Isaiah
46:4), ‘I have told you these things so
My joy may be in you and your joy
may be full’. (John 15:11), 'How great
is the love the Father has lavished on
us that we should be called children of
God and that is what we are' (1 John
3:1), 'Even if I walk into trouble, You
will keep my life safe, You will put
out Your hand against the anger of
those who hate me. And Your right
hand will save me'. (Psalm 138:7), 'I
will show you and teach you in the
way you should go. I will tell you
what to do with my loving eye upon
you.' (Psalm 32:8)

OASIS WYONG GETS MESSY!
On Sunday 1st June, Oasis Wyong
Chapel launched "Messy Church".
There was an air of excitement as
people came together for church with
a difference.
Here at Oasis Wyong we figure that
life is messy and so church should be
as well!
We explored the story of Abraham
and Sarah with lots of star crafts,
some crazy singing and ended by
sharing dinner together.
We're really excited about this new
phase of ministry at Oasis Wyong
Chapel; one with a particular
emphasis on connecting with children
and families in our community and
seeing them find freedom in Christ
and function as a healthy family."

SENATE INQUIRY MANUS ISLAND DISTURBANCE
The Salvation Army will today
present evidence to the Senate inquiry
into the incident that occurred at
Manus Island Offshore Processing
Centre from 16 to 18 February, 2014.
This Inquiry, run by the Senate Legal
and Constitutional Affairs References
Committee, is investigating the cause
of that incident which saw riots occur,
leading to the tragic death of an
asylum seeker and the injury of more
than 60 asylum seekers.
At the time of the alleged incident all
Salvation Army personnel (both
Australian and Papua New Guinean)
had been formally evacuated from the
Centre in accordance with security
protocols. The Salvation Army
condemns unlawful behaviour. If any
criminal actions by one of our staff as
alleged are ultimately found by the
PNG authorities to have occurred,
they were done without the
knowledge or authority of The
Salvation Army.
As The Salvation Army was
providing support services to asylum
seekers in Manus Island Offshore
Processing Centre up until 21
February 2014, the Senate has called
upon us for evidence and information
from this period. We will continue to
aide investigators in order to help
determine the events leading to the
tragic disturbances. We have
cooperated fully, openly and as
transparently as possible with this and
other inquiries.
Please pray that our spokespeople at
the inquiry today will know the peace
of God as He provides clarity in their
thinking and answers.
For more information regarding
offshore processing or this inquiry,
please contact Matt Samson, Media
Officer, on 02 9266 9820.

JULY SPIRITUAL RETREAT
Uniquely Created,
Uniquely Connected
Many of us find it tough to really feel
connected to God. So we try to model
what we’ve seen others do – singing
worship songs, engaging in acts of
service, meditating quietly in solitude,
but in the end God feels further away
than ever. This is because God has
designed each of us with a unique
temperament and personality. “One
size fits all” simply doesn't work
when it comes to our spiritual life.
Throughout the retreat you will have
opportunity to discover your unique
pathway to God. Draw closer to God
and learn to love Him in a new way –
the way you were created to love
Him.
