What is FPK?
“Education in Malaysia is an ongoing effort towards further developing the potential of individuals in a holistic and integrated manner; so as to produce individuals who are intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically balanced and harmonic, based on a firm belief in and devotion to God. Such an effort is designed to produce Malaysian citizens who are knowledgeable and competent, who possess high moral standards, and who are responsible and capable of achieving a high level of personal wellbeing as well as being able to contribute to the harmony and betterment of the family, the society and the nation at large.”

Elements of FPK Implications
Education is on going effort - Process of acquiring &transferring knowledge, skills & noble values.- The acquisition & transfer processes are on-going starting for eary age til death- Early education is important- Upon completion of schooling, the individual continues to enhance his knowledge, skills & character-Continuous education will assist the individual to adapt to various type of changes.
Development of Individual potentials - Everyone has been blessed by God with hidden talents, potentials & abilities.-Education should offer the individual oppurtunities to develop his talents.
Holistic & integrated development of the individual
- Talents, potential & abilities do not develop separately-Enhancement & developmnt should preferably encompass four aspect
balanced and harmonic - importance of knowledge (intelectual), good personality (emotional), beief in God and good character (spiritual) and good health (physical);-balance of the four aspects will produce an individual who can live in harmony with himself and others-resilience to face all of lfe's challenges and problems
Intellectual element -possesses the thee basic skills (3R): reading, writing and arithmetic;-always strives to acquire and develop true knowledge;-possess creative, critical, and reflective thinking skills-willing to share knowledge with others and the environment
Spiritual element -be aware of and believe in God-thankful for God's gifts-possesses good character and upholds moral values
Emotional element -Matured and stable emotions;-possess and nurtures love;-a feeling of togetherness and unity
Physical element -Be aware of the importance of good health-develop technical, manipulative and social talents and skills-uses physical fitness skills for the benefit of society
Belief in and obidience to God -Admit the existence of God and accept Him as the Creator of mankind and the universe- Be aware the God determines nature's laws and phenomena;- Be aware that every individual is fully responsible for his deeds and actions-Practise all the teachings of the faith professed
Knowledgeable Malaysian citizen -love for knowledge-Strive to foster knowledge and reading culture-Broad and open-minded
Competent Malaysian citizens -Possess expertise and competencies-Able to execute tasks effectively and efficiently-Far-sighted and has initiative-Foster good disposition

FPK is an official document which spells out the aspiration of the GovernmentRegarding the education system in this country
The education fraternity needs to play an active role in ensuringThe realization of the FPK.
All educators have to be aware that their task ans responsibilities areNot only limited and confined to knowledge and skills delivery.
