What?
New Noise Santa Barbara is a three-day music and digital media conference that will showcase emerging and established bands, host educational panels on the music industry’s hottest topics, present esteemed experts from all walks of the business, and serve as a place for players big and small to connect and plot the future of sound. New Noise Santa Barbara will be equal parts classroom and playground, blending each day’s intelligent discussion and all-important networking with entertainment offered during the evening at venues large and small. Tapping into the industry's emerging "green" movement, New Noise will also feature a strong sustainability component, with panels focusing on responsible rocking and eco-experts from both inside and outside the music business. Altogether, New Noise aims to expand on the overwhelming popular and critical successes of the annual South By South West Music & Interactive Conference in Austin, Texas and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, which now attracts thousands of film lovers to town every winter, but remains a favorite event for locals.
Where?
New Noise will occur annually in the beautiful seaside city of Santa Barbara, which offers the perfect mix of live music venues, interested and active local residents, an allure to out-of-towners, and a visitor-serving infrastructure (hotels, restaurants, etc.) to properly host a festival of this sort. Strategically located 90 miles north of Los Angeles—one of the world’s hottest spots for new music and home to a significant portion of the music industry—and just a one-hour plane flight from the tech-savvy Bay Area, Santa Barbara is the ideal locale to discuss the convergence of music and digital media technology.
When?
The inaugural event will take place October 8-10, 2009. The season promises reliably pleasant weather and will assist Santa Barbara businesses in a season when they need help filling beds, shops, and restaurants. October also welcomes back the more than 30,000 college students to Santa Barbara, all eager for entertainment and learning.
Who?
New Noise will attract a steady stream of devoted local music lovers as well as fans, artists, up-and-coming entrepreneurs, and already successful business people from around the country. Outside of Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo counties, New Noise will draw professionals and fans from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and other major cities on the West Coast. New Noise will concurrently appeal to those from New York City and other domestic and international music and technology hubs.
How?
New Noise will be financially successful thanks to a combination of national and local sponsorships, sale of conference passes (ranging from Platinum all-access to discounted student passes), and individual ticket sales to concerts large and small. New Noise will leverage its unique relationship with concert promoter Nederlander and media outlets throughout Santa Barbara & Los Angeles to further its marketing reach and opportunities for advertisers.
