Download - My Global Experience in Ukraine
A story of Chayanis Jirawattananon (Hong) a student from Assumption University
about her AIESEC exchange experience in Ukraine
Why you decided to take AIESEC internship?
What did you expect to get from AIESEC internship?
Because I wanted to have new experience in aboard.I wanted to face the people in another world.
In addition, after I attended the seminar which was organized by AIESEC, it inspired me to go for
internship. All alumni explained their experiences proudly. Thus, I
wanted to be like them. Before I went there , I always thought that I would have
only good experiences, learned different culture and I would have a lot of friends from there.
What did you do in your internship?
In my responsibility, I had to present Thai culture and taught about self-discovering , team management etc. to
high school students.
What was goal of your traineeship? Did you achieve your goal?
I expected to learn their culture, some their language, expand about Thai culture and learn new
experience in aboard. Finally I got them all even more than my
expectations!
What did you get/ learn from
your internship
experience the most ?
The experiences that I got the most were foreigner cultures, team management and dealing with problem. Since while I was internship, I had to work with 2 Chinese girls and 1 Georgian girl and another 3 Georgian
guys from another project. When there were many too people, the problem always happen. Thus, those experiences taught me a lot .
What was your contribution for society or organization you worked in?
As I work as facilitator in high school, I had an opportunity to promote my culture and my country. What I knew is they were many students
didn’t know my country and my culture so my presentation made them surprised and interested. In addition, I was really happy that I gave
them to have a chance to speak English and expand new knowledge to them.
What was the most difficult situation that you faced during your internship
and how did you overcome it?
Language barrier was the most difficult problem that I had ever seen. The most of Ukrainian couldn’t speak English even the airport officers. Thus , it’s very hard to let them
understand us. And another problem was culture differences. We need to learn more each other.
What was the impressive moment you got during your internship?
The first impression was I had good Project Team Leader. She always took care her
interns. And she contributed herself a lot!! She took me to
travel around the town. In addition, 1 week before I
came back to Thailand , I had an opportunity to go another city, and AIESEC(Odessa)
there welcome us warmly like we were same family.
Please give message for the next exchange participants
When you arrive there, what you dreamed before might fail. Thus, don’t give up since you don’t start it yet. Learn as much as you can. It’s only a short time but it will be your memorable experience in your future. Now you may feel that your country
has many drawbacks but believe me, you will be very veryproud in your country , your culture and your nationality.
