What is a research paper anyway?
A research paper is
an investigative, written report based upon information compiled from a variety of resources.
Some possible resources for gathering information include both print and nonprint:

You will learn valuable research skills:
Find information and evaluate it for quality.Use the Alabama Virtual Library (AVL).Write source cards.Summarize information.Avoid plagiarism.Write note cards.Write an outline.Make in-text citations.Compile a Works Cited page.
You will find that doing research requires a logical process:
Locating information
Writing source cards
Summarizing information
on note cards
Organizing information
