Far ahead of the 2015 deadline, Nigeria has achieved key targets of MDGs 1, 3, and 6. We are on
track to attain Goals 2, 4, 5, and 8. Efforts have been stepped up to address the challenges
hampering progress on Goal 7.
With less than 1,000 days to the deadline of the MDGs framework, efforts are being made to
sustain the progress that has been achieved across all of the MDGs.
There is the need for partnerships and synergies throughout society to ensure we continue to
deliver high impact interventions to the poor and vulnerable in society.
I wish to thank His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR, President and Commander-
in-Chief of the Armed Forces for his unwavering commitment to the poor and for insisting that the
DRGs be devoted entirely to interventions that affect the most disadvantaged in society.
Conclusion
Thank you for your attention!
