MIRITI: AN AMAZON MATERIAL

BRAZIL: A DIVERSITY COUNTRY

My country is well known as a diversity cultural country, from North to South there are a variety cultures underneath one nation.

I’m from North Brazil, and my region is also known as Amazon. It’s famous for its beauty nature and diversity of fruits and vegetables.

MIRITI: LIGHT AND TOUGH MATERIAL

It’s extracted by the Buruti tree.

In Pará, the Brazilian state where I was born, they use to make handmade toys, boxes, bags, threads etc.

I’m proposing to the Miriti be used as a new material to make shoes’ hills, instead of Cork.

Benefits are: it is lighter than the cork and the Styroform, it’s natural and the extraction of the Miriti can help a lot of poor people that live in this area.

For the global innovation we can not forget the traditional cultures, that, wisely, gives emphasis what really matters: to respect the nature, animals and people in general.

What my country can contribute goes beyond of the material, we can contribute with creativity to use different materials in many ways.
